Former Minneapolis police Officer Derek Chauvin will ask the U.S. Supreme Court to review his conviction for second-degree murder in the killing of George Floyd, now that the Minnesota Supreme Court has declined to hear the case, his attorney said Wednesday.
The state’s highest court without comment denied Chauvin’s petition in a one-page order dated Tuesday, letting Chauvin’s conviction and 22 1/2-year sentence stand. Chauvin faces long odds at the U.S. Supreme Court, which hears only about 100 to 150 appeals of the more than 7,000 cases it is asked to review every year.
Floyd, who was Black, died on May 25, 2020, after Chauvin, who is white, pressed a knee on his neck for 9 1/2 minutes on the street outside a convenience store where Floyd tried to pass a counterfeit $20 bill. A bystander video captured Floyd’s fading cries of “I can’t breathe.” Floyd’s death touched off protests worldwide, some of which turned violent, and forced a national reckoning with police brutality and racism that is still playing out.

He was convicted of murdering a man who died of a drug overdose.
Now since then, our inner cities have turned into "no-go" zones.
Hell yeah....Wonder why police are not ticketing?...they see they are fair game for the thieves. So much for the BLUE line.
I agree. It is very wrong.
Was that the 1st 20 dollar counterfeit bill ole’ Gerge boy passed?
Won’t do any good. He is a Political Victim. His conviction was Political. not legal. In a legal Court he would be found not guilty. He was a victim of a Kangaroo Court Lynching. There was nothing just or legal in his trial. But that is where we are as a Nation today. Think it is funny? Wait until it happens to you. And it will eventually. Just give it time.
Yep. But they had to hang him to appease the Lefty lunatics and Black activists.
He deserves a hearing, imo
Exactly-
and the result of that political conviction will be minority groups screaming ‘racism’ ‘abuse of power’ everytime a violent perp is taken into custody or dies in a shootout with police or whatever the case may be- His conviction is license for minority groups to scream bloody murder whenever they get arrested now- because they now realize facts do not matter- only the accusations matter now
I agree. Except that he was guilty. He used excessive force. So there should be another hearing.
Manslaughter - the crime of killing a human being without malice aforethought, or otherwise in circumstances not amounting to murder.
He deserved at least a change ov venue in his first trial.
That's fine. They can have the inner cities. But they'll have to behave when they come to the suburbs. That's how we are operating since 2020.
Besides the fatal levels of fentanyl in Floyd's system, I recall the county coroner saying that Floyd's airway was not damaged by the restraint (which by the way, was taught to officers and was included in the Minn. PD instruction manual)
Why Mr.Karnowski, you appear to be a racist bag of crap.
But you are prog, therefore I am repeating myself.

"St. George of Fentanyl"
BTW he has been drug-free for over three years!
watching all the video carefully- and which was shown in clear detail by the defense lawyer— you could clearly see that his knee was on floyd’s back and not his neck, cutting off his air liek the left lyingly claimed- besides, if his neck was so cut off, floyd would not have been able to talk like he did the whole time before the drugs caused him to collapse and pass out- he was cryign and complainign hte whole time- speaking normally- listen to the audio- he inj no way sounded like at any time his neck was being squeezed-
Chauvin was railroaded-
I knew he could do it!
No evidence of lesions on his neck.
He wasnt strangled.
