Just seems a bit odd, unless it escalated once a 2nd police cruiser arrived on scene.

According to Fargo Police Chief David Zibolski the shooting occurred as police were handling a routine traffic accident. The killer had no known connection to the accident, but shot at the police from nearby, until a fourth policeman stopped him.
I suspect the feds will provide the politically correct official description of what happened, which will then be repeated by the enemedia.
