Ron DeSantis zings Trump for skipping events: ‘Nobody is entitled’ to GOP nod
NY Post ^ | 07/13/2023 | Ryan King

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has taken aim squarely at Donald Trump, with the former president set to miss a major forum in Iowa Friday and dangling the prospect of playing hooky from next month’s first debate. “Nobody is entitled to this nomination,” DeSantis told conservative Boston radio host Howie Carr Wednesday. “You have got to earn the nomination and doing things like the Family Leader event in Iowa, doing things like these debates, they’re important parts of the process.” Trump has been noncommittal about attending the first Republican showdown, hosted by Fox News and slated for Aug. 23 in Milwaukee. Earlier this week, organizers of a key Des Moines cattle call — the Family Leadership Summit — revealed that the former president won’t attend that event.

"he called Trump's supporters "crazies?"

Wasn't it him that called us 'Hobbits'? (He unknowingly gave us a compliment 😉)

I appreciate the thoughtful reply. I expected the typical kneejerk reaction from the Trump loyalists, so I am pleasantly surprised by your insightful discussion. I supported Trump in 2016 and 2020, but I also like winning elections.

Objectively speaking, I don’t see how Trump can win back any of the swing states that abandoned him in 2020 (PA, MI, WI, NV, GA). Before anyone starts screaming about 2020 fraud, please consider that the same election apparatus in place in 2020 will also be in place in 2024 in those states (with the possible exception of NV, which now has a GOP governor). It is true GA is controlled by the GOP, but since Trump primaried the sitting governor, he shouldn’t expect any help there.

It pains me to see Trump attack DeSantis from the left (“Pro-life position is too harsh!”). Earlier this year Trump spent $25M on TV ads accusing Desantis of wanting to destroy Social Security and Medicare. The script used in those ads was in the best tradition of Chuck Schumer / Nancy Pelosi.

DeSantis has demonstrated an ability to win over independents and disgruntled Democrats. He won Florida by 19%; Trump won it by 3%. DeSantis could replicate that performance in the swing states, and also bring other states into play, such as VA and NH.

If he shows up, he wins. If he doesn’t show up, he wins. How soon we seem to have forgotten how great it felt to WIN all the time.

let me get this straight, the candidate from Florida who is skipping the Turning Point
——-
He’s also skipping out on Florida, which he was elected to do and trusted to do by the voters.

It would be a grave mistake for Trump to skip the debates.

Negative. There is not one single good reason for Trump to debate any of these yokels. Trump is, indeed, entitled to the nod, which DeSaster and the rest will find out in the primary.

Debates by Democrat moderators are a waste of time.

Tucker Carlson will be the moderator.

He can get more traction from a rally.

Trump's presence on the debate stage is 100 times more effective at attracting new people to his caause than any rally he might have.

He is a marketing genius. Why give them an audience they won’t get w/o him.

If one goes back to the 2020 election and examines what happened, including before and during and after election day, one could see the fraud being prepared.

On election day, the swing states had Trump leading after the polls closed. But, given enough time for counting, the fraud was bound to come in to undo the results of election night. And, we all know that fraud is how democrats win a lot of election, and the presidency is one of them. Georgia may have republicans in high office, but, the conditions for fraud are very much abundant in the state, and no one in office dares to admit that fraud could have been the cause of Trump ‘losing’ the election.

Trump is going after the same states which are supposedly swing states, and I’m pretty sure that he expects the same kind of fraud to occur again, but, he’s going to have an army of poll-watchers and vote counters, that will try to avoid the same kind of fraud that occurred in 2020 (and other elections).

Democrats are putting out the lie that Trump is who they want, and they want to put Biden up against Trump. But, they dare not pull Biden out, because, it would be an admission that Biden can’t really defeat Trump in a fair election; only the same kind of fraud would have Biden ‘elected’ again.

So, in reality, the best candidate is Trump to go against the same fraudsters of 2020, because, they will have to try harder to ‘win’ with fraud. Trum did not lose in 2020, and the vote count that he get then, some 73 million, is a lot more than any candidate in the history of the U.S., and the only way that democrats could surpass that massive count, is by fraud. Think about it: 75 million votes! Only fraud could undo that massive number. Think about it again, with Biden’s 81 million and Trump 75 million, it means that we had all eligible votes in the country casting their votes. 156 million voters! That’s fantasy! Not real. Only fraud could get Biden to bring in 81 million votes.

I want President Trump to sit down with Tucker at some point and for Tucker to grill him on what he would do differently, and his comments on gun control.

"Wasn't it him that called us 'Hobbits'?"

Yep. That was back in 2011. He called Tea Party members "hobbits."

McCain won’t apologize for calling tea partiers ‘hobbits’

McCain was a criminal who was the only Republican caught up in the Keating Five Scandal. He was dirty then, and was dirty throughout the rest of his life.

You left out the horrible personnel choices which lead to a disastrous 2020.

I think it is a big mistake for Trump not appearing at Tucker’s debate this month. He should readjust his schedule now.

The best thing about McCain is his son-in-law Ben Domenich.

Unless they can convict on “high crimes and misdemeanors”

Which is impossible, since that is only an offense when it comes to impeachment, and Chief Justice Roberts has already ruled you can’t impeach an ex-President.

I don't. I don't watch any of that crap anyway. Stopped watching Fox News in 2008, and don't watch any news programming on any platform ever...not even Trump's rallies or interviews. I already know that I'm voting for Trump for a third time, if the Good Lord lets me live to Election Day 2024. No internet or TV appearance of him or anyone else is going to change my mind.
