Trump puts Iowa victory at risk with attack on GOP governor
The Hill ^ | July 12, 2023 | by Brett Samuels

Former President Trump is taking a risk in targeting Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds (R), picking a fight with an influential and well-liked figure in the first state on next year’s GOP presidential primary calendar.

Trump narrowly finished second in the Iowa caucuses in 2016 but went on to win the GOP nomination, something he could easily repeat this cycle. However, an underwhelming performance in the Hawkeye State in 2024 could open the door to a viable challenger building momentum early in the primary calendar...

Some in the state found the criticism of Reynolds to be uncalled for and the type of undisciplined move that has hurt Trump in the past.

“Ok… so we shouldn’t remain neutral?” tweeted Cody Hoefert, a former chairman of the Iowa GOP. “Well then after this I’m out on the former President. It’s time for fresh leadership or shall I say actual leadership. I am open to support a new fresh leader who inspires others.”

So Trump wins by 40%, rather than 50%. I wouldn’t call that ‘at risk’.

Trump is suicidal and will have made so many Republican enemies by next year, the Dems will have an easy win. He doesn’t undrstand Reagan’s 11th Commandment.

The Hill hates Trump and is just trying to stir up things against him. And, they are sooo transparent.

Probably false as to popularity among Republican voters; but why should Trump be needlessly making enemies of popular politicians who agree with him on most issues? Ronald Reagan would think he is nuts.

Trump narrowly finished second in the Iowa caucuses in 2016

It only took two sentences before the Fake News began. Let's not forget that the Iowa Caucuse win in 2016 was stolen by Voter Fraud.

Reagan’s 11th amendment! After the DC GOP ran the coup on Trump in ‘20?!? Reagan would have declared open warfare on the current Uniparty Team R.

Good, keep calling them out. If you’re neutral in 2024 it’s clear why. You are against Trump but want to do so in the shadows. Nope. No shadowy figures kneecapping in the dark this go around.

Agree!

The rules have changed. We’re no longer living in the ‘polite society’, of the Reagan era.

Thank goodness these turncoats are being called out, by one brave outsider.

Again, leftists are on the look-out to prevent Trump from losing votes. They can be so generous.

Or, some people could see the supposed spat as an opportunity to try to hurt Trump under the guise of being concerned for Trump, try to make themselves appear objective.

“He doesn’t undrstand Reagan’s 11th Commandment.”

And you claim you understand things that Trump can’t?

Just in case you haven’t noticed — can you cite a Republican candidate that is not violating Reagan’s 11th commandment when it comes to Trump? Why is the 11th commandment only binding on Trump?

Cold Cash, was Reagan up against pure evil in his own party? If so who? Trump will win or it’s over… we are on the verge of a thousand years of darkness. He won last time but he was betrayed by Republicans who let the Democrats steal the election.

“He doesn’t undrstand Reagan’s 11th Commandment.”

All those people you are concerned about Trump pissing off only follow their own “12th Commandment”: never do what the Republican base wants.

He doesn’t undrstand Reagan’s 11th Commandment.

It no longer applies, since over the years, the Commies have infiltrated the GOP with moles.
