Republicans are split on whether their presidential contenders should embrace a federal 15-week ban on abortion as the party tries to find its footing on the issue going into 2024.
In a radio ad released Thursday in Iowa, Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) vowed to back a national 15-week ban on the procedure. That ad followed a call last week from former Vice President Mike Pence, who urged the other candidates to embrace a federal 15-week ban.

And that’s why it will be in the news from not until Election Day.
Until there is a bill actually introduced there is no chance of it happening, but the activist media will make it front and center to influence the election regardless.
It’s amazing that you are attempting to make this a slavery issue. Disgustingly dishonest. You should go live in China. You don’t belong in a Republic.
You have no idea what you are talking about. Really - no bloody idea.
Banning the acts of murder and upholding the constitutional rights and liberties of the e enumerated all persons born is not acting authoritarian it is upholding the oath of office and it is following the letters of the law accordingly.
States’ rights, do not and will not trample upon the God-given unalienable rights
That if we allow the federal govt to legislate abortion the way we want it done now, the dems will just use that legislation to rally their troops to gain power and change the law down the road?
Many more children will be saved by winning this battle at the State level. People like you are similar to the pro-abortion groups. You just want the federal govt to snap its fingers and make America in your image. That takes WORK. More work than many are willing to do. It is much easier to make your own State in your image. Start at home.
No, that’s not correct and you left out part of that section of the Preamble:
“…and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity…”
If you’re going to make claims you need to at least get the primary source text correct.
Re: 64 - so you have no issue with capital punishment?
Which is codified in upholding the sanctity of human life nice try pro abort
Of course not do you? Are you saying that from conception onward it is not human life? Are you saying it’s perfectly, okay to murder human life in Cold Blood without any type of criminal consequences including capital punishment? Is that what you are saying? Dude that just is beyond reprehensible Wow just wow
Re: 68
Oh grow up.
The fact you called me “pro abort” (I’m not) shows you can’t argue the point.
Good luck. Not a good start for a 4-day old FReeper.
Half a loaf now, then get to work on getting the other half.
The “all-or-nothing RIGHT NOW” strategy is a failure.
The population, unfortunately, are not in a place to support an absolute ban.
I’d take a 12 week ban over abortion through 9 months, if those are the only two choices...
