One solution was to have outside aggregators pull data through to their site instead of linking directly to Twitter.

Why? Registration is free! Why posters want to hide their identity?
I don’t want to be tracked to every other website I go to and linked through my Twitter ID and I haven’t seen enough interesting on there to open up an anonymous browser window, log in and then close the window when done with Twitter. Same reason I don’t have a Farcebook account even though I have wanted to look at some pages on there.
I’ll probably sign on to lurk.

REALLY stupid move
I think Musk is not working there any longer and has turned the operation over to the female CEO he hired.
interesting. he has to pay something like $100m year to AWS and I think he’s having a hard time doing that or wants to get out of it or whatever. A couple months ago he was pictured with the CEO of Rumble who has their own server farm so maybe he was thinking about switching, etc.
He’s defaulted on ALL of his office leases around the world too.
I am/was getting one ‘promoted’ ad per page last month and that was enough for me. It is now impossible to tolerate. Twitt is off of my regular reading list.
I won’t pihole block the site like I have done to the MSN FACEBOOK YAHOO CBS NBC ABC AP and the others but I won’t be visiting very often.
It’s always been that way or at least as long as I’ve used Twitter.

Same here. I've been on Twitter for more than a decade and I've never been able to "browse." You can sometimes search for a particular name on find their latest tweet via a search engine, but you can't do a browse on Twitter itself without an account.
Appreciate the clarification.
