Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.'s impressive first televised town hall
American Thinker ^ | 06/30/2023 | Peter Barry Chowka

NewsNation's 90-minute town hall broadcast live from Chicago Wednesday with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. was an intellectually stimulating and emotionally moving event.  Despite the hour of mostly put-downs that preceded it (hosted by Chris Cuomo with featured guest Bill O'Reilly) and the half-hour of analysis that followed it (Chris Cuomo again with a panel that included former Wisconsin Republican governor Scott Walker, the most fair and objective), Kennedy more than met the challenging questions presented to him by town hall host Elizabeth Vargas and a number of pre-selected Democrat and independent voters in Chicago, New Hampshire, and South Carolina.

By the end of the ninety minutes of town hall, I kept thinking of this statement attributed to Ronald Reagan: "The person who agrees with you 80 percent of the time is a friend and an ally — not a 20 percent traitor."

I found myself agreeing with Kennedy at least 80% of the time.

Even when, near the end, Kennedy countered a particularly obnoxious and challenging gay voter from South Carolina who attempted to get him off stride and sandbag him with a snide accusation, Kennedy pledged his lifelong support of LGBT rights (which he described as "LGBQT"), I could sympathize with what Kennedy was trying to do: in essence, to reach out in the darkness.  Too bad he wasn't asked about his feelings about the current move to give special rights to transgender people, as in allowing them to participate in sporting events with people of the opposite sex.

The issues at hand were much larger and more significant, as the hour and a half provided Kennedy with time to expand on the points that he's made in his half-dozen live interviews on FOX News since he declared for president two months ago.

Don’t care.

He’s not a Constitutionalist (anti 2A at a minimum).

“Other than his anti gun stand he’d be a great Republican.”

Oh, reallY?

“He supports murdering unborn babies

He supports single payer healthcare

He supports Obamacare

He supports government “drug dens” for narcotics addicts

He supports illegal immigration, citizenship for illegal’s babies and citizenship for illegals

He supports non-citizens having the right to vote

He supports EVERY voter receiving a mail in ballot

He supports more gun control

He’s a climate nut, and would imprison “climate deniers” if he could

He opposes cuts to public spending and supports tax increases”

Listening to RFKJr is like listening to Hubert Humphrey or Joe Lieberman, maybe even Eugene McCarthy in the 1980s when he was saying that the biggest threats to America were the IRS and the FEC. Only people old enough to remember what the Democrats in general were like before the Marxist takeover of the party recognize the mixture of liberal and non-Marxist views in Jr’s positions on issues. That doesn’t make him a desirable President, but anything looks better than what walks in and out of the White House today.

Gonna come down to a semi-moderate Kennedy or a senile Biden or totally woke Newsome. Harris will be eliminated in the first round.

No offense, but you might want to do some research on that before you post such nonsense on this website.

Other than his anti-vaxx stand he's a hard-core leftist.

**But I am happy to watch him throw the DNC into turmoil and he would be better than Newsome.**

Watch them do to him what they did to Bernie in ‘16. GOP leaders should weigh in and throw gasoline on their fire. We’re not smart enough but then RFK Jr. does not look too eccentric.

Future scenario:

gop manipulates trump out of winning nomination
dnc manipulates kennedy out of winning nomination

trump/Kennedy join forces as “save country party”

Demoncrats and GOPe big mad, but lose!

Agree to table all agendas except those required to save the country.

Both sides have issues, but enough votes split irreparably to crater two parties

Run spawns candidacy of thousands across country

Trump wins - orders military to take over and reset constitution.

Trials of traitors become a national holiday and the biggest viewed events in history.

Volunteers recruited for firing squads.

🎼Some call me a dreamer, 🎶 but I’m not the only one…🎵

I think we’ve found our media darling for 2024.

Maybe.

In 1968, Eugene McCarthy came out of nowhere to upend LBJ, who decided in March of that year to pull out of the race. Then RFKSr. walked on the stage and basically pushed McCarthy to the side while taking over the nomination process, and he would have been the next Pres if he hadn't been Sirhancided.

Now it is 2013, and RFK's son is trying to pull a Eugene McCarthy on Joe Biden--but if he thought about the history of this, he would realize that the minute Biden pulls out of the race, Gavin Newsom will jump on the stage, push Jr to the side, and take over the nomination process--and he's not going to get 'cided.

There’s more. Start a rumor. His cuz-John Jr.-America’s crown prince, was taken out by the Clintons. He was going to come out of the closet as a republican and run for the senate seat Hillary ultimately won. It would have been game over for the rats.

If Biden doesn’t run in 2024, the field will break wide open with loons and nuts.

He could be anti- the entire bill of rights. it’s about getting out the vote and party loyalty...He’s a shoo in as President if he is the Dem’s candidate.

“He has some interesting pro constitutional views. But the left wing loony in him shows through”

Right, the Democrat loony factor is always there.... waiting for the right moment and opportunity to toss those “pro constitutional views” right out the window. If he had any integrity AT ALL, he would not still be a Democrat. Amazing that some, even on the right side, are being fooled.

Kennedy — an environmental lawyer and nephew of President John F. Kennedy — has positioned himself as a populist set on returning to the "exact values that would have been promoted by my father and uncle."

Interesting that he does not say "my father and uncles". I guess Ted doesn't have much respect in the family these days.
