"The latest round of layoffs was the second over the past nine months and the fourth since a series of ownership changes began in 2015.
In September 2022, Disney removed six top editors from the magazine."

That is a shame. I didn’t realize it was in that bad of shape. This is one magazine that deserves to continue to be published.

National Geographic has been politically correct for decades.
It is sad to see this happen to what was an American icon.

Oh, well. NG had turned into nothing but climate-change propaganda anyway. Can’t say I’ll miss it.

National Geographic used to be a wonderful, family-friendly travel magazine about all kinds of interesting and exotic places around the world, but as of late it too has gone "woke."
My family canceled their subscription years ago, saying the Nat Geo had "changed" - yeah, no kidding!

National Geographic has been politically correct for decades. Calling their leftist propaganda "politically correct" is generous, and yes, it's been decades.

disney will shrink itself into irrelevancy.

Nice work, Disney. Killed a once respected magazine.

I used to have a subscription back in like, the 80s or early nineties, when it was still credible.
Then the Left ruined it…

It went ultra-Green in the early 90’s - the science disappeared, replaced by non-stop alarmism over “fossil fuels” and climate change. It’s unfortunate, because I credit 60’s-70’s era National Geographic with making me an educated person. It did for me and many other young people what the school systems had no hope of doing, which is probably they killed it.

No more topless natives? The naked pygmies are now all post-surgery trans women walking the streets of San Francisco.

Some issues were popular with us boys in 1970s elementary school for that reason. Word would get around and we’d all have to check it out.

Nope, no more nekkid natives to gawk at. No need for NG when we have social media and Hollywood going full naked. Naked freaks in the streets all over the place.

I kind of agree with the other posters. To me, this became a real problem back in the Nineties...this woke agenda.
Same thing happened to Scientific American. I used to love that Magazine, had a subscription for years, and finally ended up cancelling it due to their overt political agenda.
Same thing with National Geographic. Use to read it all the time, and stopped in the Nineties. Now, when in a Doctor’s or Dentist’s office, if National Geographic is my only choice, I will twiddle my thumbs instead.

I feel much the same-it seemed like the Nineties were when that became a real problem.

I remember cutting up photos from old Nat Geo's for school projects - always got A's on them.
My family stopped subscribing around the mid-90s when it became insufferable lefty.

That’s a shame. I have not subscribed for a while but it used to be a good magazine to learn about the world. It wasn’t agenda-drive 30 years ago.
