Russian President Vladimir Putin pledged Saturday to defend the country and its people from an armed rebellion declared by Wagner Group chief Yevgeny Prigozhin, describing the call to action as a treasonous decision that puts the country’s survival in peril.
In a televised address Saturday morning, Putin said the mutiny amounted to "a deadly threat to our statehood," vowing there will be "tough actions" in response.
"All those who prepared the rebellion will suffer inevitable punishment," Putin stated. "The armed forces and other government agencies have received the necessary orders."
While he did not call Prigozhin out by name, he described the rebellion as a "criminal adventure, a grave crime, an armed mutiny" and encouraged those involved to "stop participating in criminal acts."

doing or saying anything publicly on the world stage about the coup not smart...there is a high probability that the CIA was covertly involved in this at the conception. best to be covert in whatever the involvement of the USA.
What about the public, whose side are they mostly on?
Wagner had an election and the population supports the pro Russian Wagner group.
DeSantis has always been deep state, he is a George W Bush clone.
Yep, the media will go orgasmic with praise.
Short answers yes and yes.
Biden is an idiot and everybody knows it. The heroes will be the Ukrainian military.
It’s already appearing to be a cascade event where that prediction self fulfills.
Yes but not according to our press. Watch and see.
As Army Chief of Staff [1917] Petan acceded to the French Army mutineers by improving their treatment and support thereby mollifying the mutiny.
I’m not sure Russia’s leadership can duplicate this feat. Waay too much corruption. That usually means revolution. 1917 Russian-front-type revolution. Everyone just leaves and goes home.
Putin may want to replace Shoigu with Prigozhin. The other military leaders may support this as well.
The absolute last thing we need is to start meddling into the internal affairs of Russia by air lifting supplies to a rebel force. It would almost guarantee Putin airlifting nukes to our cities.
Only somewhat related, but Obama gave an interview yesterday where he said he has never done anything wrong and he was right to abandon Ukraine and let Russia run free.
From the internet comments I saw that even liberals were angry at him.
“ Ever since this disappointment he has been nursing a deep hatred towards America,‘
I am curious to see some quotes etc to back that up. Being pro-Russian in a war we are officially neutral in is not convincing argument he hates the USA. The same with his hatred of top US military staff.
“it’d end most of the offensive in the Ukraine.”
Not the Ukrainian offensive though. If Russia is fighting on two fronts, Ukraine will find a breakthrough.
I don’t think Prigo needs airdrops. First thing he did was seize the Southern military district HQ, so I bet he also seized all the supplies that were heading for Ukraine as well.
Follow the money. Prigozhin has been paid by some black ops.
Machiavelli had no use for mercenaries.
Ukraine ping

And they’re not really mercenaries. They’ve only really fought under the Russian flag, at Putin’s behest.
Worth repeating.
Prigozhin doesn't have much of a choice. Obviously, he saw this as his best chance.
Between Twitter feed (from Rostiv and Moscow), and German news....I’d say the majority of people around Rostov (fairly near the Ukraine border) are either neutral or pro-Wagner. But I’d also suggest most everyone interviewed off the streets are a bit shocked (weren’t expecting this).
One other aspect...two months ago...Wagner folks were whining that they weren’t being given ammo/rockets. Right about this time, Russian military required Wagner members to swear an oath. It appears ammo/rockets were being distributed and stored away....waiting for this day of the ‘coup’.
