Trump claims DeSantis attacks are personal, calls him ‘disloyal’ for running against him: ‘I got him elected’

Former President Donald Trump suggested that his attacks against his Republican challenger Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis are personal in the second part of his exclusive interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier, saying that he finds it “very disloyal” that DeSantis joined the 2024 presidential race after he helped him get elected in Florida.

Trump, who is battling DeSantis for the GOP presidential nomination, was discussing the COVID response of several Republican governors when he invoked the Florida governor’s nickname, “Rob DeSanctimonious” during the second part of the hour-long interview that aired Tuesday on “Special Report.”

“Why do you use that name?” Baier interjected.

“I got him elected,” Trump replied. “And I thought it was very disloyal when he said ‘Yes, I’d run.’ I got him past two races."

The “DeSantis is disloyal” Trump strategy is, first of all. absurd, and second of all a sign of tremendous weakness/vulnerability by a guy who says he wants to wreck the Deep State.

I am not a DeSantis voter, in fact, I believe he’s been chosen to evade conservative suspicions since, on all important issues, he’s aligned with the Deep State.

That having been said, the type of “loyalty” Trump is saying DeSantis should have is the loyalty of a dog, not of a would-be political leader.

I’m very disappointed.

This is all part of the ongoing effort to create the impression that there is an actual race.

There is not. There is just Swamp filth campaign “professionals” wanting to generate donations to pay themselves.

Dear Donald, stop acting like a baby, SMH. It’s okay when you personally attack DeSantis but not okay when someone does it to you, get over yourself guy, your petulant behavior is getting old, real old. As for the Trump suckups here, save your comment, I’m not interested.

First a freeper here told me several months ago Trump would never be indicted. He KNEW it and basically told me I was a fool for even thinking it could happen.

Now I bet he has subtly shifted to he just KNOWS Trumps case will be thrown out, once it does go to trial he will just KNOW Trump will win …and so on and so forth.

The truth is I agree with you. With the DOJ and FBI being obviously biased to the Democratic Party the truth is anything may happen, including Trump being a felon and thus having 3/4 of the nation refuse to vote for him.

Lolz y’all keep talking about 2028 like it matters

And why in the hell would 2028 go to DeSantis and not presumably whomever Trump picked as VP and would be the incumbent VP?

These “arguments” are just silly

Trumps inability to admit he made a number of mistakes and attempt to blame any mistake on other people has destroyed any remaining confidence in his ability to govern

DeSantis ruining his brand on the National Stage by aligning with the Bush family means he’s done. He doesn’t have any money, he’s a career government leech, he’s clearly a puppet given his flip-flop on Ukraine, so why do good people like him?

Because creepy Trump cultists, like you, keep lying about DeSantis. You can't post a single piece of evidence that DeSantis is aligned with the Bushes or Rove or Soros (as some of you cultists claimed)

DeSantis has enacted more of the conservative agenda than any governor in any state ever. He is the real deal. He served in the military with honor, which you claim is being a government leech.

You are mentally ill in your hatred for DeSantis and that only comes from your cult instructions.

Real Trump supporters are happy with either man, even if they currently support Trump. Real DeSantis supporters will vote for Trump if he wins the nomination.

Only creepy Trump cultists proclaim that they will not vote or will write-in Trump if he doesn't get the nomination.

That tells us all we need to know about you and why we dismiss your warped opinion about DeSantis.

Ronald Herbert Walker DeSantis is a Bush/globalist stalking horse.

Period.

A vote for Ronald Herbert Walker DeSantis is a vote for the DC Uniparty Swamp.

No thanks. If he is the candidate there is no point in voting.

Ever again.

““Good governance” as in threatening the power of state government to punish a corporation that had a Gay Day or whatever?”

Is this all you know about it?

Lolz

Maybe because most of us don’t believe those things you listed

Anyway, it seems pretty certain nothing I can post here will convince you otherwise and it really doesn’t matter, the primaries will settle this

That's a bit harder to do now that DeSantos just supported and signed a law that obscures the names of the billionaires flying him around the world to run for President.

I guess you're just suggesting we ignore that inconvenient fact?

“Amazing to see somebody completely tank the 2028 presidency in real time, but wow, Ron is an awkward stiff.”

I like DeSantis but I will say this: DeSantis is not experienced like Presidents Reagan and Trump in front of a camera or large audience.

Presidents Reagan and Trump had years of coaching and experience in front of a camera; they were comfortable doing it. Maybe not at first, but after years of practice they were very good.

So good with easy words that both presidents got themselves into trouble unnecessarily i.e. “we begin bombing in five minutes” and “grab them by . . .”

That said, conservatives need to give some thought as to who can be elected and who can best move the conservative agenda forward in 2024.

That is not so clear as to be certain.

Nice try, but snark is a poor substitute for actual intelligence.

The Florida Legislature sealed DeSantis travel records as governor, not as a candidate.

They did this because they know how the media play dirty and fabricate things.

In essence, it is a smart move to outmaneuver the Swamp.....something Trump seems incapable of doing.

Bottom line: You are shooting blanks, cowboy.

Donald Trump is the flip side of the Hillary Clinton coin. Bitter, entitled, and long past his used by date.

That i terview with Brett Baer was one of the more cringe-inducing spectacles I have witnessed recently. And in the age of Joe Biden, that's saying a lot

“He doesn’t have any money, he’s a career government leech . . .”

Part of his career is military service, which you define as being a leech.

I disagree.

I find it amazing that supposedly free-thinking FReepers want someone who can act for the camera as their candidate instead of someone who has shown leadership and getting the job done.
