Kremlin official suggests Russia could one day try to reclaim Alaska from the US

A Russian official this week threatened the US over the freezing of Russian assets, urging it to remember that Alaska was once part of Russia's territory.

"Let America always remember: there is a part of its territory that is Russia — Alaska," Vyacheslav Volodin, a Putin ally and speaker of the Russian parliament's lower house, said on Wednesday, according to multiple media outlets.

"When they attempt to appropriate our assets abroad, they should be aware that we also have something to claim back," Volodin added.

In other hawkish comments made on Wednesday, Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy secretary of Russia's Security Council, posted a long tirade on Telegram in which he slammed "any attempts to create tribunals or courts" to investigate Russia's actions in Ukraine.

"It won't work with Russia, they know it well," Medvedev wrote. "That's why the rotten dogs of war are barking in such a disgusting way."

Warning that it would be "absurd" to try to "punish a country with the largest nuclear potential," Medvedev also slammed the US for attempting to "spread chaos and destruction across the world for the sake of 'true democracy.'

"The entire US history since the times of subjugation of the native Indian population represents a series of bloody wars," Medvedev wrote, referencing other US actions such as its bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II and its involvement in the Vietnam War.

"Was anyone held responsible for those crimes? What tribunal condemned the sea of blood spilled by the U.S. there?" Medvedev asked.

Medvedev's comments were not the first time the Russians threatened Ukraine's allies with nuclear warfare. In May, a Russian propagandist warned that a nuclear strike could wipe out the UK and Ireland.

even if half the things said on this board about Ukraine are true. Russia would still be far and away the bigger threat. It is vitally important that we deal with Russia here and now.

If China invaded Taiwan I doubt we would even have to fight. We could just start a boycott like we have with Russia except a boycott would be far more effective since China does not produce much in the way of needed commodities. China had better watch what is happening in Russia and think about what would happen to them. Supporting Ukraine is the best policy to prevent China problems.

They can fight and kill anyone. Just don’t use my tax money to fight Russians unless they send a spy balloon over USA or send rockets.

NATO is meant to expand. Finland just joined this year!==

It brings a war closer. Because this move convinces Russia that it is a threat. SO she must fight it. And Russia always fights when sees threats.

No, but the Russians did massacre native Baltics, Finns, Turks, Mongols, Caucasians, Cirrcasians, Georgians, Armenians, Ajeris, Persians, Altaians, Chelkans, Telengits, Tubalars, Chulyms, Dolgans, Khakas, Kumandins, Shors, Siberian Tatars, Baraba Tatars, Soyots, Teleuts, Tofalar Tuvans, Tozhu Tuvans, Ukranian Kulaks and Yakuts.==

No Russia didn’t do that. They are all there sitting in a federal government of Russia. For example Shougu the defense minister is Tuvan. Putin himself has some Baltic blood in him. The prime minister Mishustin is half Armenian as the foreign minister Lavrov too.

Persians are Iranians. A few of them in Russia.

Yakuts has a biggest Siberian republic of Russia. Other people like Shorians not many in number but also has autonomous region in Russia.

They all fights for Russia today in this war with NATO.

Russia always convinces people. But she defend against those who want hurt her.

No you just call for problems by this move. You invoked the war in which Ukraine will be destroyed. Then you will see a angry Russia with lot of war-hardened troops and equipment to go eliminate other threats to her.

West simply don’t understand Russia. She always will get her security. If not by peace agreements but by war. She simply not hesitates to war for her security because she think she entitled to it.

“Of course with nukes its all academic.”

Hopefully it won’t reach that stage, theirs and ours. That’s an end stage that doesn’t accomplish anything. All they are looking for is a standoff. Their problem has always been security and it’s how they have designed their military since before Napoleon.

And they also know they don’t have much to gain in Alaska. About the only real “worth” in Alaska is petroleum and they are already big suppliers in oil and natural gas to many countries to include the US. The type of war they want is to demoralize their enemies so they won’t want to fight and they will make concessions. War is not pretty and they are nasty about how they fight it.

I see the use of other than bang bang. They’re new friends to their south, China, is one of the biggest supplier of another means of destruction, bio and chem capacity. And they’ve proven they’ll use it. And that doesn’t flatten possible resources they might be able to use. That’s what they are doing in the Ukraine using pinpoint strikes rather than just tossing in destruction that will make their gains worthless. They easily have enough fire power to wipe out the Ukraine. But if they do that they can’t use what would be left over. Alaska to them would be about the same situation. And it would be a pain in the keyster for them to try. But Boris is too egotistical to consider that. Biden, too.

Historically, yes they did. This started in the 15th Century as Russia conquered peoples in every direction. The fought Sweden over the Baltics and Finland, Central Asians over Central Asia and all of Siberia—from the Ural Mountains in the west to the Pacific Ocean in the east. Siberia has formed part of the sovereign territory of Russia and its various predecessor states since the centuries-long conquest of Siberia, which began with the fall of the Khanate of Sibir in the late 16th century and concluded with the annexation of Chukotka in 1778.

Whom they have in government now is meaningless to the historical record.

Yes, we Americans took Indian land and conquered them, but nowadays many Indians are part of government, from local counties to the federal government—sounds like Russia today.

This started because some Russian said how Americans were wrong to conquer the Natives and take their land, clueless to how Russia took the majority of their lands.

I corrected that lack of historical knowledge.

You globalist warmongers are more than willing to commit others to your defense of the most corrupt child-sex trafficking state in all of Europe, but you won’t commit yourselves to fight. It’s called hypocrisy. No wonder you squeal like stuck pigs every time that point is brought up.

Ukraine is not being destroyed it is the Russian army that is being destroyed. The people may accept war to begin with but they usually acquiesce whew the casualties come in and the hardships continue beyond their ability to withstand. Look at ww1.

There are limits to their ability to withstand hardships that beyond the usual. I find it hard to believe in “war hardened troops” They are usually quite cowardly and many who fit that description are being wiped out. Their equipment is inferior as well and so are the officers. They are using museum pieces because their modern tanks are being destroyed. Read the deposits by speedy in Texas.

An angry Russia will turn on their own leaders especially in a war that has no real meaning to them.

By the way I am reading some of your past posts and you seem to have a Russian accent. If you had a free country you would be able to hear some other things from other sources that would give you a better understanding.

This started in the 15th Century as Russia conquered peoples in every direction.==

Sweden attacked Russia in first place and all fights were done long out of territory of Sweden. Except once when Russia occupied Swedish capital Stockholm.

But since Russia is a descendants of Vikings then Sweden is our playground.

Same I may say about former Horde territory. Russians are descendants of Horde too. So Ural and Siberia are Russians to join. Including Chukotka. There were nothing to conquer. It was joining.

Chukchas became a subjects of Empire so defended by law. They could travel whole Empire and their business, their rights, lands and properties were preserved by same law as any other subjects. Russia always installed equality and mutuality on joined lands and people.

But Alaska, Hawaii and Northern California were only colonies of Russia. They wasn’t joined to Empire. That is why Russia sold them later. If it was an imperial lands then sale wouldn’t possible. But still Russia came there before any American colonists and built relations with local population on base of equality and mutuality.

I reflect same argument to you back. If you live in a “free country” then why you just eat only ukie propaganda but don’t know any other sources? Because they censored out Russian sources right? For example RT.

They in US try to sham everybody who tells something defying a media mainstream. Say Tucker Carlson. I CAN see his clips of Twitter but you can NOT see Russian TV or Telegram.

Okay, fair enough. Some were conquered, some joined, willingly or for a price, and others were assimilated.

Just like the American Indians.

AND... that was my whole point.

I think it was just voluntary joining. I’m myself is mix-blood like overwhelming majority of today Russians. There almost no a pure blood Russians anymore. At least as they stood it in 15 century. Everybody is all mix-blooded now. But nevertheless all are Russians and fight for Russia.

Those few who proclaims a pure-blood actually just lie to themselves. They mostly incline to nazi ideology and went to Ukraine to fight for them. Nazi to nazi. No surprise.
