OAKLAND, Calif. - Vandals sliced through thick cables at an Oakland electric vehicle charging station, leaving drivers powerless.
Nearly a dozen charging cables are missing from the EVgo charging station at 409 Washington Street near Jack London Square. The chargers have been out of commission for at least a week.

Hey Akeski you may look at the demographic difference between Finland and Oakland
I thought the Chargers were in LA. Silly me.
Finland wants even more of that. They are going to get it good and hard.
“Why would somebody do something like that”
Because—the locals are “entitled” to everything that exists on the planet—they demand it now and they demand it free.
Cartel people do this in Mexico, price of copper has gone up, and it is a thriving business.
And so it begins..
If there is no Catalytic Converter to steal, and you ‘just have to’ steal something, there’s all those EV cables lying around helpless, with no particular place to go.
“EV charging cables cut off and stolen from chargers in Oakland”
If I lived out there, I’d pay a bounty for each cable, to the people cutting them off. Gives them more time to work their profession as they no longer have to cut them apart to get to the copper...for recycling.
...and the thing is, the EVs COULD have been designed to carry their own cables, and plug directly into the charging stands (just as RVs do at campgrounds). But the wanted to give the Virtue Signalers the feeling that they were at a gas pump, hence the exposed cables.
This is what happens in lawless third world areas like Somalia, Uganda, and Oakland.
People do it here too, mostly homeless and illegals. A few years ago when the price of copper was sky high, in our town we had people tearing fire department fixtures off of buildings, air conditioning units off of the roofs of businesses, and brass rain gutters from both businesses and homes. Lots of idiots got killed trying to tear copper wiring out of lamp posts, etc.
These aren’t vandals unless they were only doing this to protest electrification of transportation. If they did it to steal the copper they are not vandals, they are thieves.
“EVs COULD have been designed to carry their own cables, and plug directly into the charging stands...”
Great point, I never thought about that.
Reason #237 I’ll nevown one.

Stevie Wonder could see this coming.
They been doing air conditioners down South for years.
And Chicago, Detroit, Denver, Philadelphia.....
Just some young entrepreneurs getting equipment for their new start-up EV charging station.
Copper scrap must be just as lucrative tithe ferals as catalytic converters
What did they think would happen? Drug-addled thieves will steal anything not nailed down, and if it is nailed down they will destroy it to take what parts they can. Unscrupulous scrap-wire and metal buyers ask no questions so they don’t have to listen to the lies.
