Tucker Carlson’s six years on Fox News seem to have artificially extended the life, and relevance, of cable news itself. While he was there, the top-rated host in the medium brought in an entirely new audience: young people, especially young men. He not only drew the largest number of viewers in the coveted 25-54 demographic, he took in the top rank for Democrats in that age group too.
But even Carlson knew cable news was a dying model, one that had lasted longer than anyone expected, as he told me when I spoke to him for my upcoming book, Tucker.
“I really do think the cable news business has a limited future,” Carlson said, two weeks after his show was abruptly pulled off the air. “It’s too obviously controlled. It’s like Google — it’s just become too clear that there’s a certain selection of stories that are allowed, and a very thick file of stories that are not allowed. And I think people have come to understand that, and it’s just not sustainable.”
If Fox News’s ratings are anything to go by, then Carlson’s departure might help speed up that demise. For millions of frustrated viewers, he was the reason they kept watching Fox News. To a cynical audience, his presence was a saving grace: if NewsCorp let him speak, and speak so freely, they can’t be that bad, they thought.
That’s done now. The backlash against Fox after it pulled the plug on Carlson has made the mountains of free Bud Light piling up in a Piggy Wiggly parking lot look quaint by comparison: total Fox viewership is down nearly 40 percent from the same time last year, and has tanked a whopping 62 percent in the key demographic.
What Carlson gave his viewers that no one else could...

I hope not, and I hope all the neocon, Trump hating, establishment rinos die with them.
We shouldn’t celebrate. They are guilty of being dumb. It’s their right.
RE: Can they live without him?
There was a time when Bill O’Reillly used to rule that Fox News time slot for over 2 decades, then he was forced to leave. People speculated that he was irreplaceable until Tucker Carlson came along and made O’Reilly’s time slot even BIGGER!
Fox can live without Tucker if they can find another person who is willing to speak and reason like him without fear or favor. But I’m afraid with those currently in charge, it’s becoming almost impossible.
.
There’s a very clear pattern on FOX - they bring on Dirty Bill Barr to attack Trump, and they won’t give a single hard question to Barr on the Coverup for Biden being run by his boy, Weiss, in Delaware.
The cases were quickly moved to Delaware when a U.S. Atty informed Barr he had a good case and wanted to Move forward to the Grand Jury.
What made Tucker popular was he would say things that the Elites did NOT want said. That's why he had to go.
Fox might put on someone who PRETENDS to be edgy, but with Twitter the fakeness will quickly be exposed
Bill O’Reilly was easily replaced because he was a centrist who would drift a few degrees either direction and always evened it up. In short, a squish. He did not “go there” ever. Tucker did and Ryan and the Murdoch’s shut him down. The 33% ratings loss was worth it to shut the truth down.
Answer: No.
… and why would they do that when THE REASON they fired Tucker was because of his speaking and reasoning?
The firing of Tucker is NOTHING like the firing of Ted Baxter(aka. Bill O’Reilly). Tucker was fired for his content. Faux News had no problem with Baxter’s milquetoast content. Faux had to fire Baxter because he was grabbing ass.
His three Twitter videos have a combined 270 million views. Safe to say that Fox Snooze was holding him back.
It would be cool if he could buy Fox out of a liquidation sale.
Almost?
And make sure you check the view numbers on Tucker’s Twitter posts. The dwarf his numbers on Fox News.

That’s #3 and currently over 90 million views.
“To a cynical audience, his presence was a saving grace...”
No, to an uncynical audience, his presence was an excuse to keep watching FOX even though they knew by then that FOX was the enemy. The actual cynics checked out about after the 2016 election fiasco.
the oreilly and tucker firings are two different animals
people were already giving up on fox cuz of 2020
alot were only tuning in for tucker
everyone should pull the plug on the whole lot
nothing on cable tv worth saving
and you are forced to fund channels that hate you
What bothers me the most is the way Fox is hell-bent on SILENCING Tucker, even when Tucker is not even mentioning them. Don’t be surprised if kiddie porn shows up on his computer.
...should be a lesson to all that the Left is in this to DESTROY our side, and is not even trying to win on the issues.
Didn’t Hannity take his slot?
Paul Ryan explained why Fox is going broke. He did not realize that he is a major cause of there dilemma. What an egotistical fool.
