A commission to consider reparations to address the effects of slavery will proceed in New York under a bill passed Thursday by the state Legislature.

“We want to make sure we are looking at slavery and its legacies,” said state Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages before the floor debate, AP reports.

“This is about beginning the process of healing our communities. There still is generational trauma that people are experiencing. This is just one step forward.”

Since Britain brought slavery to North America and maintained it for 180 years before the US began the 90-year process of dismantling it, shouldn’t the Brits pay these bills?

King Chuckie over there is said to have £25 Billions.

Maybe George Soros should pay for the reparations.. I mean, it was the rich folks that benefited from the slavery, right.? Poor people didn't own slaves....did they? And the government didn't own slaves.. We the people were suppose to be the government in The USA, but they've made a big joke out of that, so how can they hold the average man responsible for any reparations.?

So, the only thing that makes any sense at all is to make anyone with 100 million or more in wealth give ALL their money to the black people.. And that includes the BIG ZUCK and everything the Soros family has, or EVERY WILL HAVE..!

So let it be written, so let it be done.....

I meant my comment only as an ironic observation, as many in NYC will certainly lecture about the multi-generational guilt that you mention. NYC leading up to and during the Civil War harboured a great deal of pro slavery (and anti-black) sentiments due to it’s position in the trans Atlantic trade between the U.S. South and Europe and the U.K. and that was certainly how the draft riots of 1863 started. Nonetheless, I also do not dispute your idea of New York City’s white population being made up of descendants of immigrants (Jewish and Catholic) who came to America after 1865 and this makes the idea of reparations even that more ridiculous.

It is simply an attack on whites. If they are so hell bent on generational trauma, then give to them. Repeal the 13th.

In other words, it will NEVER be enough. Cue Rush's "I'm a victim" song . . .

For the taxpayers of New York, I will save you money, no commission is needed, here are the finding and summary report:

1. Slavery occurred in the USA

2. A civil war was fought, thousands died, slavey was later abolished

3. Civil rights remained an issue, and in spite of the democrat party, laws to ensure equality were enacted

4. Reverse racism later became institutionalized, giving preferential treatment to blacks. This practice continues to this day.

5. As of this time, NO ONE ALIVE IN AMERICA was a slave

Conclusions: No one is due reparations for slavery. No one. In fact, reverse racism has created a class of people that have been abused to pay for failed social services, while being denied opportunities and financial assistance others have been given merely due to dark skin color. Further, the 13% of America that is causing nearly half the violent crime has placed existential risks across the country.

Recommendation: Stop with the reparations bullshit, stop the reverse racism. Everyone do their duty to be good citizens. Everyone learn to love one another as God commanded.

Rudyard Kipling said it best.
Dane-Geld

“And that is called paying the Dane-geld;
But we’ve proved it again and again,
That if once you have paid him the Dane-geld
You never get rid of the Dane.”

Seeing as to how NY is as bankrupt as California they won’t be paying out reparations here either. They just keep floating this around to keep blacks on the Dem plantation. I just saw a poll yesterday in my upstate NY city showing 92% were against reparations. Not gonna happen.

“Generational trauma?? Is that code word for, GIMME THAT!”

There are commercials on the radio now that talk about the trauma of being a black man.

It’s only a small leap from reparations to confiscating the wealth of whites and putting whites into concentration camps. Neither is right or is common sense.

Every descendent of slaves is a legacy of slavery. Without slavery they never would have been born because their ancestors never would have met and procreated. How much is your life worth ??? Nobody is defending slavery but these people need to understand that slavery is the only reason they are alive today.

Was there slavery in New York, Illinois or California?

California, no. It was admitted as a free state very shortly after being taken from Mexico.

Slavery was banned in Illinois by the Continental Congress as a part of the Northwest Territory.

New York did have slaves and may have had some at the time of the Civil War. As I understand it, NY had a sort of ‘rolling emancipation’ which freed slaves born after a certain date. Those born before that date remained enslaved.
