When I was that young man’s age I swam in that sea. It was quite beautiful. Didn’t realize it could be so dangerous.
Why post this? You must have no sense of simple propriety. Let such sad violence stay in its own moment.

I was in the MFO in 85/86 at South Camp near Sharm el Sheikh. Nama Bay was closest to our camp, about a mile north. just before you walked down to Nama Bay was a place we called the Cliffs. There were little natural platforms of rock at 20, 30, and 50 feet above the water where we would dive in.
Later in the tour I caught a notice on the beach bulletin board: “Hammer Head Spawning season, don’t make big splashes in the water!”
I never went back in again.

If you are in deep water, this is a mistake. You’ll never outswim a shark. Better to turn and face it and try to hit it in the nose, poke it in the eye, kick it, anything to make it think you aren’t the easiest meal in the ocean.

Egyptians are idiots. Israelis routinely cull sharks at their Eilat resort on the Gulf of Aquaba .
