Calls are growing for the arrest of a woman accused of shooting dead her mother-of-four neighbor after she complained about the victim's children playing outside.
The children of Ajike 'AJ' Owens were playing in a field near an apartment complex in Ocala, Florida, on Friday when her neighbor 'began yelling at them to get off her land and calling them racial slurs', renowned civil rights attorney Ben Crump said.
The children then accidentally left an iPad behind after leaving the field, Crump explained, before going back to fetch it.
But the neighbor, a 58-year-old white woman, who was not named, had taken the iPad and threw it at one of Ms Owens' children, hitting the boy and cracking the screen, the attorney said.
The mother-of-four then marched across the street to speak with the neighbor after hearing of the incident.
The neighbor fired through the door, shooting Ms Owens. She later died at hospital from her injuries.
Police have so far made no arrests following Ms Owen's death. Although Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods has confirmed police know the identity of the shooter, he said authorities are working to determine what role the state's 'stand your ground' law might play in the incident.
Under Florida's 'stand your ground' law, people are essentially permitted to use deadly force if they feel their lives are in danger.

I just went to a seminar recently in my very blue state, and the guy running the course was quite specific about that type of sequence of events.
If someone gets into an altercation with you and they or you leave, that is a “closed” incident, even if you were the aggressor. However, if they return with intent and threaten, you may be justified. If you follow them and threaten, you will have no ground to stand on, even if they were the prior aggressor.
I know, it seems like a lot to comb through in a heated dynamic situation, but you have to boil it down to “the threat”, because the entirety of the rest of your life may rest on your ability to do the right thing in the legal sphere in that dynamic situation.
If “the threat” is removed by either them or you withdrawing from the situation, not matter who the aggressor was, it is closed.
If they leave and come back they are the new “aggressor” or if you chase them, it is a new “threat” and you are the new “aggressor”.
No matter what, I hope if she is in the right, that she has a good attorney versed in the nuances of it, because ideological Leftists like Crump are simply looking for a racial scalp, not justice.
In the end, the woman who was killed should have called the police. Plain and simple, she should have called the cops right then and there when her kids told her what happened. And she didn’t, instead she “marched” across the road. And now she is dead.
If this woman was shot without any provocation then i apologize for my cynicism….but i suspect she was acting menacingly and saying things that would make a white lady scared for her life. If the woman was actively trying to open the door, then thats that.

May be a LOT more to the story than what Crump is putting out.
As for shooting thru a door...did you read about the guy beaten to death recently in front of his kid when he opened the door to discuss problems? Not all doors are equal and some would offer no defense. Could even be a screen door.
Also, keep in mind, we have no idea what that woman was shouting as she was pounding on the door and walls (not hard to believe that happened)
She may have been screaming “I’m going to break down this door and smash you in the head!” or “If you don’t come out, I am going to pour gasoline on this house and burn you out!”
Having seen mothers of any race react to threats to their children, those two hypothetical threats do not sound at all outlandish. Mothers reacting to perceived threats to their children can sound nearly unhinged. I know, I have heard those kinds of things before. Every time I have ever heard crazy talk like that, nothing comes of it.
But it isn’t hard to imagine how someone might take it seriously, especially when there is documented bad blood present.

It sounds like there was ongoing conflict, and the mother repeatedly allowed her 4 kids to trespass to “play” on the neighbors’s property across the street. There was nothing innocent about those kids being on the neighbor home property after a history of conflict. These are not next door neighbors accidentally crossing the property line. They had to cross the street, at a minimum.
Serial harassment by 4 kids at your home is a big risk of danger. It sounds like the mother weaponized her kids.
Apparently, the shooter’s home was under escalated attack. The shooter did not have a responsibility to let the attacker enter the home before shooting. That is like giving the attacker a head start.
If the facts are as in the article and new facts do not emerge that change the situation then Stand Your ground should not be even considered here. In the stated circumstance the woman who fired is a crazy murderer and should be arrested

Here is an alternative scenario made up from the same “facts”. It is just as likely to be true (I’d guess more so) as Ben Crump’s narrative:
Due to fear that they might be injured and related liability concerns, the kids had been instructed many times not to play on the private property adjacent to the apartment complex. Having no concept of liability concerns or respect for private property, they construed the owner’s motive to meanness and racism, and trespassed anyway. Somewhere along the line the kids managed to break the iPad they were playing with (which is sketchy - why take an iPad to play in an open field?). Mother is furious and demands explanation. Under questioning Junior pops up with “the mean neighbor woman broke the iPad by throwing it at my head”. Why she do that? She hates us cause we’re black; she yelled the n-word at us. Furious over the “attack” on her child and the racial insults, the mother loses control of herself; goes over to give that racist white b^@%# a Waffle House beat-down. Storms up to the neighbor’s door screaming threats about making her pay for hurting her child, etc. Property owner fears for her life if the crazed woman gets inside. Oh Lord she’s ripping at the door handle. Boom.
Witnesses: From what was stated, there are no independent witnesses or corroborating video. The shooter, and the child or children have a vested interest in skewing the story their way. The latter might have made it all up, and share responsibility for the mother’s death. Absent more evidence (and the story contains only what Crump wants us to believe) or a confession, there is too much reasonable doubt to make a case over this.

One would think so, right? But, Florida's Stand Your Ground law is interesting. It even works in favor of people who shoot people who are standing on their own property.
Two years ago, some men followed a woman to her home after a road rage incident. They followed her down a shared drive and stood there. As soon as she stepped outside with a gun to scare them off, one man shot her dead. She was shot on her own property. The man was never arrested or charged.
It was considered SYG, and most freepers (not I) believed he shouldn't be charged because she stepped outside with a gun. They argued that she could've stayed safely in her house on the phone with police.
Now, here, we have a woman who was in her house, and she shot an unarmed woman through her door. All of a sudden, someone isn't considered safe inside her house now? Unless the mother was trying to break into the house, how is this SYG?
But, presumably, the way Florida's SYG law works, if the victim (the black mother) had done what that man did in the other case, that is, if she had a CCW permit, and she stood off the white woman's property, and the white woman had stepped outside with a gun, I guess the black mother could've shot her dead, and Florida would've considered it SYG. That seems to be the way SYG works there.
Notice the article calls the property a "field" and "land." If it wasn't fenced-off, I can understand why kids might not know where the apartment property ends and private property begins. Sheesh, why didn't this woman put a fence around her property if she didn't want kids playing on it?
I am reminded of Theodore Wafer of stupid loon Michigan. He was asleep in his own home when a teen in the commission of multiple felonies - underage drunk at 19, drunk driving, hit-and-run into parked vehicles, trespassing - came pounding on his door, windows, walls at 3AM. He testified that he thought it was a home invasion, so he fired through the screen door killing her. HUGE miscarriage of “racisismist” CRAP in that case. The life of a law-abiding White man has no worth in the USA but Black breeders rule.
WHITES are no longer allowed to live in quiet peace, Blacks are allowed to accost Whites even in their own homes and Whites are not allowed to defend themselves? This case comes down to Florida law and is more about castle doctrine.
