A Texas sheriff’s department has recommended that the district attorney in Bexar County bring criminal charges after completing its investigation into the first iteration of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ so-called migrant relocation program. Those flights sent 49 asylum seekers, most of them Venezuelans, from San Antonio to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, last September.
According to a statement provided to the Miami Herald, the Bexar County Sheriff completed its criminal investigation into the on-the-ground operation that allegedly lured migrants onto the flights with false promises of jobs and opportunities on the other end.
“The case filed includes both felony and misdemeanor charges of Unlawful Restraint,” according to the statement. “At this time, the case is being reviewed by the DA’s office. Once an update is available, it will be provided to the public.”
Now it’s up to prosecutors in Bexar County, which includes San Antonio, to decide whether to follow the sheriff’s recommendation. The district attorney did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

In spring of 2022, #DeSantis had the chance to join #Trump on a 2024 ticket together. Instead, in summer of 2022, upon promise of Trump indictment, he reversed course & decided to contest Trump instead. It will go down as one of the dumbest political decisions in recent history.— Robert Barnes (@barnes_law) June 5, 2023
Obviously this so called sheriff is infected with the sickness of wokery!
Illegally helping dreamers?
Distorting the law is common and practiced by more than a few LEO’s, knowingly or otherwise.
What does a Texas sheriff have to say about flights between Florida and Massachusetts?!
Hey sheriff asswipe...take care of Bexar county.
Deport the sheriff.
This azho “sheriff” has been whining about this crap since the Martha’s kicked the Venezuela freeloaders out. I think the “sheriff” is in over his head. JMO.
No, he’s one of them.
He’s a Mexican and his loyalty is to the illegal aliens, not to the Americans.
He has no business wearing a badge in this country. And You can be sure the Bexar DA is similar in outlook.
He’s mad because “mi raza” got held up to ridicule, but no one forced them to agree to it.
If he was actually doing his job, he would support their deportation by delivering them into custody, not running interference for them.
Because Bexar County law enforcement have nothing better to do. How were the “victims” worse off going to Martha’s Vineyard, or any other Dem controlled self-declared welcoming sanctuary, as opposed to being stuck in San Antonio?
Yes, Virginia, there are a few Left minded, crooked sheriffs in America. The citizenry get exactly what they vote for. Where will they run to after San Antonio?
That's what this whole clown show is all about. And some sheriff in Texas is trying to pin the whole blame on one person? Stupid!
We have to wait and see if it was a dumb decision.
If Trump goes down to defeat in 2024, then the future for DeSantis actually would be better, than it would have been if DeSantis were part of a losing ticket
Those illegals publicly agreed to go to Martha’s Vineyard-that was no secret-whether or not they were “lured” to Martha’s Vineyard with offers of jobs, etc sounds like a made-up CYA story to make the trip they agreed to take look like a scam, kidnapping, etc-it even sounds ridiculous...
I would rather have seen them sent back to where they came from, but I’m sure there are plenty of service industry and other jobs in that enclave where all those rich democrats live...
“What does a Texas sheriff have to say about flights between Florida and Massachusetts?!”
What does reading the article have to do with knowing the facts?
Probably gets a nice fat envelope from the cartels every month.
A sheriff who thinks he's doing Trump a favor by miring DeSantis in possible criminal charges before the election?
This sheriff is a grandstanding POS that the illegals and others voted into office in Bexar county. Can’t stand him and glad I live outside of his jurisdiction.
