Churchill said…”don’t do your best. Do what’s necessary”. I taught my kids that.
do what you love ... the money will follow ... < /bullshit>
I disagree with the first sentence.
“Well, Santa Claus for one”
What do you mean?
Also if one believes that people are all basically good then the falsehood that bad people are the result of some reason out side themselves
That Leftists are liberal

“1) You can become anything you want to be.”
When my son was little and we prayed together at his bedtime, I prayed the same thing every evening: that he would have a good night’s sleep, and grow up to be the man God wanted him to be. Both prayers were answered.
“2) You should make the world a better place.”
You make *your part of the* world a better place. He saw my students’ lives improve because of what I taught them. He makes the town he lives in better by engineering the transportation.
“3) You are the product of blind, random mutations.”
Never taught him that. He is God’s creation, fearfully and wonderfully made by God to become the man God planned from before the foundation of the world.
“4) You can measure your success in life by either wealth or title.”
You measure your success by doing God’s will; you may end up with wealth or a title, but you will lose both when you die.
“5) You can attain either easily.”
Never taught him that, and he never saw it from me.
“6) People are basically good.”
He learned in Lutheran school and from his father than people are inherently sinners, who can only come to goodness through the blood of Christ, and continuous repentance, as Luther wrote in his first thesis.
“7) The worst of all the lies — There is no such thing as absolute truth.”
Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.
This is why the world is not yet completely lost, because there are millions like my son throughout the world.
Never forget Harry Callahan’s (AKA Clint Eastwood) words of wisdom: “A man’s gotta know his limitations.”
Reminds me of the thousands of “Marine Science’ majors and the very few ‘Marine Science’ jobs.
Yeah, do what you love but be real.
First, get a job where you can support yourself and your family. Know it takes a long time to work to the top and lots of folks are competing for the same spots. Traditional values are ‘traditional’ because they work...
Be nice to everyone you meet, but also have a plan to kill everyone you meet.
Henry Ford: "Whether you think you can do something, or whether you think you can't, either way, you are right."
Together, these say it all.
We have to get out of the whining mode: "The Rats did this... The Rats did that... The trannies did this... The trannies did that...
the Deep State did this... the Deep State did that... WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA... ENOUGH.
We need to stop being nihilistic and holding our breath for the Last Judgement, and start pushing back and fixing things, large and small, whenever and wherever we can.
Getting out of the whining/despair mode is a good first step.
I had a discussion once with my then college age daughter and a couple of her friends, in response to comments like “that’s your truth” I stated that there is absolute truth. I was challenged to back that up. I responded as follows.
“Joan of Arc cannot impregnate First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt.”
Silence.
And the biggest lie is in the constitution.
“All men are created equal”
The insane push for “equity” today can be directly attributed to that “noble” lie.
