DeSantis: Trump mocking name is ‘petty’ and ‘juvenile’

Republican presidential candidate and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said this week that former President Trump’s taunts regarding his last name are “petty” and “juvenile.”

“I think it’s so petty. I think it’s so juvenile. I don’t think that’s what voters want,” DeSantis told Jack Heath on “The Pulse of New Hampshire.”

Trump recently mocked DeSantis for the pronunciation of his last name and referred to the Florida governor as “Ron DeSanctimonious,” a nickname the former president frequently uses.

DeSantis told Heath that Trump’s behavior is one of the reasons why he lost the 2020 presidential election.

I did, and you are.

So you hate Italians too?

Or just Catholics in general?

It might help Trump with his base. I wonder if it will help in the general election?

If I were a Trump advisor, I would tell him (as I suspect many have) that name-calling is petty and juvenile and makes voters want options for a more presidential and diplomatic candidate.

Trump's name-calling works well with his romantic supporters hereabouts, but not with all GOPers. One of many personal examples is my DW (who does not make idle statements) insists she will not vote for Trump (she's a GOPer, who voted twice for Trump before.) She hates the cringing and the petty and juvenile behavior.

I did, and you are.

How am I a racist?

So you hate Italians too?

How do I hate Italians?

Or just Catholics in general?

Or Catholics? How? What are you talking about?

Trump's name-calling works well with his romantic supporters hereabouts, but not with all GOPers.

Karl Rove and Paul Ryan said the exact same thing.

Stabbed the wanna he king in the back for running for president. No wonder he can’t seem to win. One lucky break running against the most hated women in politics.

That would mean that for this particular opinion, they agree with me and my observations. (I often do not agree with them.)

Yes of course it is. But that’s where we have devolved to as a country, and Trump is somehow the best and brightest person we can come up with to lead us as a people. It’s sad

And anyone that talks intelligently like RDS sounds “pompous and faggy” to most Trump supporters

Nope. We’re thrilled to get an adult back into the White House. After the last six years of constant juvenile drama from Biden and trump. President DeSantis will be refreshing.

Agree 100%. I listened to part of DeSantis’ speech today and it was so refreshing to listen to solutions with no whining and name calling.

President Trump and Governor DeSantis - what is your plan to work with Congress if either chamber is controlled by Democrats? (hint - don’t listen to mouth breathers that say you can just declare martial law and do what you want)?

President Trump and Governor DeSantis - What is your take of how COVID-19 was handled both at the Federal and State level?

President Trump and Governor DeSantis - what is your position on the Federal bump stock ban and a Federal red flag law?

There is nothing petty nor juvenile about calling out someone who changes the pronunciation of their own name. Such an affectation points to shallow character at best, being untrustworthy most likely.

I understand someone changing pronunciation of their name if they move to a country where the word may have a different meaning but what DeSantis shows we're not dealing with him but with his handlers. He's just another actor in government pretending to serve his constituents while actually serving those who are pulling his strings.

It's not a coincidence that Kamala Harris got caught doing the same thing. (Kuh-mal-uh vs Kaa-mell-uh)

He won't be so nice to Slo Joe and the Kackler.
