Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is calling on Senate colleagues, including conservative members of his conference, not to drag out the consideration of the debt-limit deal, which could be delayed past the June 5 deadline if senators use every procedural tool available to slow it down.

McConnell applauded Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) for winning significant concessions from President Biden, including a cut in non-defense discretionary spending, a recission in funding for the Internal Revenue Service, new work requirements for federal assistance programs and permitting reform for major energy projects.

We’ll, what’s the big problem with a $34 Trillion debt as opposed to $31 Trillion? It’s better than the Dow Jones falling 2,000 points which will happen if we ‘default’ next week. We’ve got to think about our 401-k’s.

you said ..”incremental victories?”

Perhaps you could share all the finer points of these “incremental victories?” ... surly when the information is explained effectively, everyone will understand.

I'm wondering about the “suspension” of, rather then the raising of, the debt limit. ... and for 2 years?

Negotiations only work if your adversary believes you will take it to the wall. I'm not trying be a total smarta$$ (maybey 1/2) but I am really having a hard time seeing the part of this deal that we won.

Please tell why it’s a bad deal.

If McConnell is on the bandwagon. I'll put money down that it's a bad deal.

$4 Trillion increase in the borrowing limit through November 2024 is a good deal? They’ll blow through that without blinking an eye.

I’d love to say that the house should only be doing slight adjustments to the debt ceiling working on other reductions, but that would just be wishful thinking. They’ll spend it all and then tell us they are saving money (over 10 years of course).

Didn’t we all know that it was only a matter of time before the GOP caved? I don’t get the point of playing at this debt ceiling theater that the GOP does only to fold.

My humble opinion is that if you are either silent on China or promoting trade with China, you are NOT a conservative. Because we know your silence is bought and paid for.
