Several months ago, I wrote a column, “Why do you still hate Donald Trump?” and asked readers to give me a good reason why they felt that way. Over 99% of the responses to my query came from those who agreed wholeheartedly with the column. Only one response criticized Donald Trump, yet the writer did state that if Trump ran in 2024, he would vote for him again. Not one genuine, Never-Trumper or Biden supporter contacted me, and I found that rather puzzling.
Of course, the poor response could have been because I’m basically a nobody in the leftist environs and not worth their interest. But the column was published in American Thinker which gets a million users a month. The column was also posted on lucianne.com which also gets big traffic. In addition, the link to my column was inserted in an email campaign ad for the 2024 Trump campaign but I have no idea how many received that correspondence because the campaign never bothered to contact me for permission. If they had, I would have gladly approved it.
Posts on Facebook and Twitter also did not trigger any TDS minions to vent at me with a heartfelt defense of their opinions. Thus, I can only conclude that they cannot debate Trump’s negatives without resorting to juvenile personal insults. His tweets, his name-calling insults, his braggadocio personality do not count as oratorical substance in a debate about his presidential qualifications. To ponder on the worthiness of a presidential candidate, one must vet the candidate’s past performances at previous occupations.
The recent release of the Durham report that clearly exonerated Trump has actually not made any difference in the minds of the TDS cult. They still hate him and the syndrome is still powerful and...

“Interesting…Trump didn’t get permission to use her column.
My cemetery org apparently worries more about permission to reprint small local news blurbs than Trump org does.”
What a pathetic reply on your part as you totally ignore the gist of this article. It’s because you are one of the TDS folks that the article is about, and the petty reasoning you exhibit to dislike Trump in spite of his policy successes.
Actually, most of them are former Trump donors.
Wrong. I interact with these people on social media. The Lincoln Project, Rick Wilson, and the rest of that Never Trump crowd seems to spend the bulk of their time attacking DeSantis.
I think they want Trump nominated because they expect him to lose.
Sorry, I noticed an interesting factoid and ensured people might pay attention to it.
Despite your EverTrumper libel, I am not TDS Type I. You are indeed TDS Type II (total unquestioning devotion a la Guiana).
I will vote for Trump and he has done some good things. But I do not blindly follow everything he says as gospel. Nope.
Not if you read their posts.
“Will I vote for him again? I don’t know.”
I totally ‘get’ your conflicted status on Trump. The more he bashes DeSantis with distortions, exaggerations and lies, the more I question Trump’s ethics (we already know what his “morals” have been in the past).
I still have misgivings about some of the disconnects that he has exhibited, and still question some of his motives.... but should he get the nomination, I will vote for him as things stand now. It’s not like I haven’t held my nose and voted before for someone that I still had doubts about.
We’re in yet another weirdly uneasy election scenario. My preference for a leader is a Conservative one. One who would reign in spending and ensure that our economy won’t come crashing down, inevitably, like it will have to do... eventually. The fiscal path we’re on is NOT sustainable. But...the Conservative candidate probably can’t win because Conservatism has been successfully demonized by the left and summarily dismissed as an option by both political parties. It’s just no fun for the DC critters to cut down on all that free $$$ (of ours) that they do so love to waste/spend.
So...once again....we’ll be left (pardon pun) with the choice of Trump vs. the Obama/Soros/DS in 2024. I really don’t think we have any other choice to make.
“Why are DeSanctimonious (Mr. “God created a fighter on the 8th day”) so immersed in dishonorable, dishonest, and deceitful practices?”
You seem to conveniently forget...that Trump has dishonestly called DeSantis a RINO and a globalist. It’s ok for Trump to do it though, eh?
“Clearly the definition of a principal conservative is seek sugar daddies... Desantis is the worst of the worst ‘trans-republican’... He needs several sugar daddies... AND for every dollar saint Desantis takes, he is owned by these slave holders and they will exact their cost..”
Translation: The only donors (which you call sugar daddies cause it’s DeSantis donors) that are ‘good donors’ are ones that donate to Donald J. Trump.
Got it.
So, in your world of fantasy....Disney is one of those “good donors”, eh?
I wasn’t around when Calvin Coolidge was president, but I’ve read enough about him to like his style and his politics. There is nobody like him today running for president.
Ron Desantis has always needed and will always need, donors to be somebody. There is not even a flick of comparison between Donald Trump and the want-a-be saint Desantis.
“in 2015 Donald Trump did NOT do the cattle calls before the ‘donor’ class. The ‘donors’ came on AFTER President Trump demonstrated he was ‘worth’ their risk...
Ron Desantis has always needed and will always need, donors to be somebody. There is not even a flick of comparison between Donald Trump and the want-a-be saint Desantis.”
Lol....excellent display of DDS there.
Carry on.
Golly gee and you signed up on FR to denigrate President Trump... Might you be catholic as well?
“Golly gee and you signed up on FR to denigrate President Trump... Might you be catholic as well?”
Ha! I didn’t sign up to denigrate Trump and I’m not Catholic. So you’re batting zero there. But do, by all means...keep trying!
