Leaked audio has emerged from the DeSantis donor strategy meeting in Miami on Thursday. In the clip you can hear below, DeSantis strategists tell high dollar donors making calls for the campaign that:
During the session, the hosts – including DeSantis pollster Ryan Tyson amongst others – can be heard lauding this a “major step forward for the Republican Party in moving to the middle [on abortion].”
There are a number of times throughout the leaked audio that DeSantis’s strategist can be heard telling wealthy donors: “You have to win a primary before you win a general,” – which is political campaign speak for “we’ll move to the middle after we win the nomination.”
The full audio can be heard below. The parts on abortion begin at 27 minutes in, and run until 39 minutes in.

His squirming and back-peddling on Ukraine was very off-putting.
“Never back down” my @$$.
I heard the abortion subject broached at about 43:30, I believe. And that’s NOT what I heard the speaker say. It’s just something they’d de-emphasize in the general election, and why wouldn’t ANY pro-life candidate do that, knowing that the general election voters will NOT be nearly pro-life as the Republican PRIMARY voters. Pretty basic stuff. If something else was said in addition to this, let me know where to find it. But it appears this post is a HIT on Gov. DeSantis, especially considering that Trump himself said that the Florida 6-week abortion ban is “TOO HARSH”!

But too many FR commenters apparently are not interested in doing the “heavy lifting” of actually checking what was said and not said. Hey, if you want Trump, that’s fine. But don’t make up stuff!
“His squirming and back-peddling on Ukraine was very off-putting.”
Yep, it basically moved him from being in direct competition against Trump into being simply another one of the GOP-owned non-Trump candidates.
I think the real reason DeSantis had to flip on Ukraine was that he was putting the entire Ukraine Project, which was taking Ukraine for the West, then Crashing Russia, then Crashing China at risk by giving legitimacy to Trump’s position (which has always been against the war). So, for the puppet-masters of the GOP (the big money boys), the cause (destroying Russia, then China) was far more important than the candidate (DeSantis).
But the thing is, DeSantis didn’t have to play along, at least in my opinion, as he was already well enough known to Republican voters to not need the Big Money. But I don’t think DeSantis is the sharpest knife in the drawer, so it simply didn’t occur to him that he could win everything WITHOUT the help of the big money.
Anyway, 2024 is over for DeSantis, and now the only question is whether he can be viable for 2028, and that depends on how he behaves for the rest of the Primary season.
Dumb comments. Just dumb. The guy is the farthest thing from a Rino or moderate I’ve ever seen in a governors mansion. Beholden to no one. Ignores idiot bureaucrats like Fauci and fires them instantly if in his watch. Pushes rightward solutions every day.
The made up fantasy land in Trumpland right now is utter insanity.
More lying from desantis/desantis campaign.
Yet the desantis supporters will blow it off, excuse it away, and say it’s a good thing.
Trump identified the problem but is completely incapable of delivering the solutions. The swamp rolled him from day one and he doesn’t seem to have any ability to get out of the chokehold. So many bad picks and then sticks with them. The disastrous RNC chair is a prime example as is his inability commit to getting rid of Wray. Makes no sense.
Want to know how you can tell whether DeSantis, or any other candidate for that matter, genuinely intends to challenge the deep state’s power? Easy. If they acknowledge the theft of the 2020 general election, then they may be serious about addressing the problem.
If they’re unwilling to acknowledge the theft, then they have no intention of going after the deep state. It’s about as clear a litmus test as there is.
“Trump Avoids Definitive Stance On Abortion—But Suggests DeSantis’ 6-Week Ban Is ‘Too Harsh’”
Who appointed the Supreme Court justices that got Roe v. Wade overturned, hmmmm? That’s right, Trump.
One meatball, without any bread....
Let the games begin......
Tell me, how did Trump run to the left in 2016? He was the first republican candidate I had seen in many years who did not run to the left after winning the nomination. There was no point in him trying, the media would not have let him. He was not Bush I or Bush II or McCain or Romney. Praise God.
“Trump said ... last week ... he was NOT ready to fire Chris Wray”
THAT is incredibly disturbing!!!!!
I’m sure it has nothing to do with files the efbeeye has on PDJT, making Wray’s job secure forever.
He didn’t much, during the election. But as soon as it was over, he announced he wasn’t actually going to try to lock Hillary up, and that he really had no opposition to gay marriage after all, to move much more to the center.
I’m a firm believer it was the power of prayer from millions that helped him win in 2016. I personally know of people who were spending hours in prayer on election day, it was a phenomenon nationwide. Didn’t happen that I saw in 2020, I believe because Trump had changed by then.
Any plan for a Conservative to ‘move to the middle’ is sheer insanity.
You are NOT going to pick up democrat votes. Not one.
Leftists making a fake toward center will get some otherwise Republican votes but it NEVER works the other way around.
Whoever came up with this plan is an idiot.
Ron DeTurkey: putting American babies in danger.
Ron DeTurkey is NOT getting my vote in the FL primary. Go Trump!
Thanks for the clarification. I’m still not supporting him.
The tell was when Trump let Hillary off scot-free. Should have gone scorched earth on the Clintons on 1/21/2017. There would have been nationwide support for that.
