In a phone interview with radio host Glenn Beck for the Thursday edition of The Glenn Beck Program, DeSantis finally punched back against those claims. A clip from their exchange began circulating Twitter via Citizen Free Press.
“I think he did great for three years, but when he turned the country over to Fauci in March of 2020, that destroyed millions of people’s lives,” DeSantis said. “In Florida, we were one of the few that stood up, cut against the grain, took incoming fire from media, bureaucracy, the left, even a lot of Republicans, had schools open, preserved businesses.”

Trump endorsed DeSantis before he had even announced his run for Governor. I guess he felt he had the right to start trashing him before he announced his run for President. As usual, Trump was right from the beginning. He uncannily knew DeSantis was going to break his promise to Florida voters, and took the opportunity to alert people ahead of time. And as usual, people attacked him for it.
I will never forget the number of simpering Branch Covidian cowards right here on FR who had the audacity to scold me back in March 2020 because I refused to shut down my business and hide under my bed.

In the early days of Covid, no one knew if it would blow over or mutate into something worse, and President Trump navigated Scylla and Charybdis as well as Hercules himself.
The revisionist historians of Free Republic, are having a great time dissecting who said and did what, when, and arguing a lot about it.
It would be interesting to go back to March and April of 2020, here on Free Republic, and see who was saying what and urging what actions should have been taken against the virus.
Let’s talk about what these critics said then, not what they are saying now as they lambast both Trump and DeSantis. But what they were saying then. Then, we might have some more productive conversations about all of this.
So we just throw our hands up and say, oh well, there was nothing we could do, we had to shut down the country, and destroy millions of jobs, lives, etc. Ridiculous. We had the Presidency! We should have done better. There is no way on God’s green Earth we should have shut down the country the way we did, and for us to sit here now and say, ‘well, it was the best we could do’ is crap. The 2023 hurricane season is predicted to be a bad one maybe DeSantis has a job to finish until December.

That’s what Fauci was claiming back then. He wanted to keep it well funded. If it remained a disease within a niche community funding would be harder to get. So, to keep it well funded he beat the epidemic drum. I guess he wanted to be the next Jonas Salk. He exaggerated and kept exaggerating the threat. Of course, Hollyweird & the Left picked up the cause for their own reasons. He never quite got what he wanted. Now did civilization collapse due to the AIDS epidemic? He never should have been allowed in front of a public microphone again!
It killed over 1,000,000 Americans. That said, it was mostly the elderly who were at risk and Dr. Fauci was responsible for their deaths. But we shouldn't have shut down the country and it was good that Governors including Kemp and DeSantis pushed back.
