Ending months of speculation, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis declared his presidential candidacy Wednesday, setting up a seismic clash with former President Donald Trump for GOP supremacy.

A more formal announcement is expected to follow at 6pm, when DeSantis is appearing in a Twitter Space with Elon Musk.

Trump deserves it after all he's done to fight against the Washington establishment of both parties.
The Rats thought Hillary Clinton deserved to be president in 2016. They believed it so fervently they ignored how much the country hated her, even within their own ranks, and threw Bernie voters under the bus. I pray that my fellow Freepers cast their vote based on who will do a better job of restoring America, not on emotion.
It sort of surprises me that DeSantis would take on Trump now.
I think it has to do with name recognition. In 2028 DeSantis will be a former governor and unable to command the spotlight as he does now with his war on wokeness. He may or may not be able to beat Trump in the primary. But if he waits until 2028 he's definitely not going anywhere.
So much that they won't even rely on election fraud- too many variables.
Well, I hope there's no voter fraud in 2024 either, but I'm not betting any money on it.
Most will have a problem being able to articulate as well as Ramaswamy. That guy can talk.

In the days after the 2020 election, DeSantis was among the first Republican leaders to suggest that Trump-aligned legislators in key swing states had the power to intervene in the choosing of electors, even after all the votes were counted. He floated the idea during an appearance on Fox News two days after the election."
