Bring Out Your Dead

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

The false positive rate was 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

Maybe I'm just naive but I think the government shot their wad with the 2020 lockdown fiasco.

People eventually realized there was nothing to it all along. The mask mandates only went away because people stopped wearing them.

I remember being one of the first to stop wearing them on the Metro North commuter rail. Within a few weeks, even the conductors stopped wearing them and the whole mandate had to be lifted - because nobody was following it anymore.

Now, even vaccinations aren't mentioned anymore. I remember when you needed a vaccination card to do anything in NYC. You couldn't see a concert, see a ballgame or even go into a restaurant without showing proof of vaccination. So I started bagging my lunch and waited it out.

Slowly, and then all at once, even NYC returned to some semblance of normalcy. It's almost like the whole thing never happened.
