Fox News’s Bret Baier assessed that the 2024 Republican primary will have to experience an earth-shaking development for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) to surpass former President Donald Trump.
Baier joined America Reports to react to the news that DeSantis will officially join the 2024 presidential race in an upcoming Twitter Spaces event with Elon Musk. The Special Report anchor began with a nod to Fox contributor Karl Rove, who spoke before him about how Trump currently leads the GOP — adding things could change as the race goes on.
As Baier spoke about how President Joe Biden seems to anticipate a rematch with Trump, he noted the reality that Trump still “overwhelmingly” tops DeSantis in the polls.
“Something has to change dramatically,” Baier said. “There may be events that we don’t know. There may be other legal challenges that [Trump] faces. There may be other things that happen. But there has to be a significant movement to change the dynamic. Right now former President Trump controls the environment, he controls the base, and he controls the messaging.”
Baier did acknowledge, on the other hand, that Trump has been fuming at DeSantis for months and spending money on attack ads against him.
“You don’t do that unless you consider that person a threat,” Baier said. “And tomorrow, he officially — DeSantis does — gets into this race and potentially could be a threat to the not-Trump group of candidates who are trying to be the alternative.”
Watch above via Fox News.
I don’t see RFK Jr. going anywhere. The Democrats won’t let him win, and he doesn’t have the public persona to launch an independent bid.
You are correct. This is a Florida issue, and the Governor of Florida is dealing with it. If "most Americans" don't care about it, why is Trump harping on the issue?
Let’s remember that presidential candidates don’t select their running mates. The political party leadership does.
They don’t care about the moral rot. They DO care about Disney. And most Americans — especially suburban dingbat women with young children —support Disney.
From a purely political standpoint, Trump is actually playing the stronger hand here.
Trump/ hawley 2024
If I’m betting on this right now, I’m thinking Kristi Noem has the best odds as Trump’s running mate.
In that case, DeSantis will be second in line.
Then the deep state will try to either destroy him or coop him to agree with their agenda. Right now, both of these things are going on: The MSM are trying to destroy him, but he is meeting with NWO types behind the scenes.
Ironically I prefer DeSantis stay in Florida and show governors how to stop the woke agenda. If he runs for president, all of his reforms will be dismissed as political posturing to capture the “extreme right wing MAGA” vote, not as trying to protect normals.
So you think attacking DeSantis from the left is a good strategy? And you think this strategy is going to get women to vote for Trump after they fled him in 2020?
YOU ARE PATHETIC, a sheep!!!
Now we’re taking Fox News’s word for things again?
I liked DeSantis when I first became aware of him and what he was doing in Florida. But I’ve cooled-off a lot. There’s something about him that rubs me the wrong way - something a little sneaky and manipulative.
Trump needs to ‘cool off’ too, and get back to the messaging that won him one term.
Forget it. It’s a cult.
Pep rallies and ALL CAP RANTS on Troof social are going to win the day.
Petty nicknames. Throw in some NFTs. Tackle the issues like what bimbo said what.
I eagerly await Ivanka with her brilliance too.
I have to note what a foolish statement you have made Captain Obvious. Of course most Biden voters are going to continue to vote for Biden. Duh. They are not going to vote DeSantis either.
My goodness you are a simpleton.
What do you wanna bet that Ron has been told that Trump will be taken out via the corrupt legal system. Therefore putting Ron at the top.
👍🤣👍
He hasn’t even started his campaign yet and the media is writing him off.
We have a long way to go.
THIS! You win the thread.
Yo. Disney is a side-show, Bob.
