The head of Russia's Wagner mercenary group said on Sunday that his forces had captured all the territory in the eastern Ukrainian city of Bakhmut as promised and would leave the conflict zone later this week.
"Wagner has made no advances. Wagner today captured no territory. We have captured all the territory we promised to capture, right up to the last centimetre," Yevgeny Prigozhin said in an audio message posted on Telegram messaging app.
"As we stated yesterday. We are handing over our positions to (Russia's) Defence Ministry and on the 25th (of May) we are leaving the conflict zone."

All your comments are inaccurate.
First it took them forever to take Bachmut, America advised Ukraine to give it up months ago.
Next it wasn’t the “most heavily fortified” anything.
No one said Wagner was convicts with shovels everyone acknowledged them as the most effective element of the Russian army.
As for being led by Putin with cancer, no one said Putin commands Wagner.
And NATO wonder weapons? Yeah its pretty clear NATO would wipe the floor with Russia, which has pretty much destroyed itself fighting a country that wasn’t supposed to last 2 weeks.
Thank God our foreign policy will never be run by the absurd wise asses here.
Destroying a Ukrainian city isn’t winning for the Russian people. Russia losing the European energy market isn’t winning. Losing military contracts because the world can see now what garbage Russian military tech is isn’t winning. I could go on but obviously you want stay in a fantasy world. That’s ok. Cheers.
How is the smell of Biden’s adult diapers suiting you? Your nose is so far up the regime’s ass on this war, you must be suffocating.

How about this for those that got suckered in by Zelensky’s Congress speech back when.
Zelensky addressing the US Congress back in Dec 21…”The fight for Bakmut will change the trajectory for our war for independence and freedom”
Well, it sure has….time to quit begging and start negotiating, no matter what the US tells you what to do.
What Su-35 doink? LOL!
Never take him at his word. Just another psy op to confuse the UKA.
He never did cut off and trap the UKA in Bakhmut. He recently said that 35,000 of the UkA have retreated to another strong point and are diggin in 6 miles west of town.
Yeah that’s brilliant.
The Russians were angry with Putin’s initial minimize-the-damage approach to this conflict, which the Ukrainians portrayed as Russias weakness. The Russian citizens see, correctly, NATO’s proxy war as an existential threat to Russia’s existence. The public was pleased, despite the costs in men and trade, when Putin acknowledged the Ukraine would never negotiate, and unleashed continuous bombardment.
Why would he stay sitting on a pile of bricks?

Because Bakmut is the central transportation hub for the entire Donbass area, roads, highways, railroads.
Vlad needs railroads to move the hundreds of tons of artillery shells he uses every, single, day….if you haven’t noticed, the Ukies have no heavy military vehicles left, only civilian pick up trucks….with each 152mm ( or 155mm) artillery shell weighing in at about 150 lbs, they have little capacity to move ammo.
Vlad’s 24/7 artillery hammer is clobbering the Ukies, non stop….but yet western MSM still tripes out he is running out of ammo.
It does make sense. You use the cream of the crop of your force to attack, take area, etc, and your less experienced guys move up to hold that line or that position while your badasses assault and take something else. It’s just how it’s done. Everyone does it and it’s been that way for literally millennia.
Even an idiot private understands this.
What Su-35 doink? Boom! Splash!

Commander of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi:Despite the fact that we currently control a small part of Bakhmut, the importance of its defense does not lose its relevance. This gives us the opportunity to enter the city in case of a change in the situation. And it will definitely happen.
We continue to advance on the flanks in the suburbs of Bakhmut and are actually approaching the capture of the city in a tactical encirclement. Thanks to this, we will be able to control all high-rise buildings occupied by the enemy and gradually destroy them. This deprives the enemy of control over the approaches to the city and gives us certain tactical advantages.
In the course of working with the commanders, we discussed in detail our actions and the procedure for destroying the enemy. Therefore, we continue the defense. The situation is difficult, but under control.
Russians are getting killed in Bakhmut, exactly according to the Ukrainian plan, just like I knew they would.
Odessa and Kharkiv fall under
Russian control and authority.

That is what your friends in Russia and the Russian held territories think.

Well to be fair, at least Vlad hasn’t thrown him in jail like Zelensky’s regime does ( yes, they passed laws against free speech- imprisoning and fining any Ukie criticizing the Ukie government), just ask Gonzo Lira, the Chilean journalist living in Ukraine.
Putin Su-35 just promoted to submarine! Stronk as bull! Just like Moskva!
Only a Russian would define the path of the war so far as "winning".
Whilst I am safely back my friend Ian visited a cemetery near Kharkiv and sent me this 35 second video which I have decided to share. War is such a waste. When will we ever learn.#UkraineRussiaWar pic.twitter.com/YOSqfzka8r— Ian Gascoigne (@IanGas) May 21, 2023
No it isn't. That is just the fantasy you made up while studying Russian propaganda talking points.
are you calling us Russian spies like the Democrats do?
