WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. John Cornyn said Thursday that Republicans need to find an alternative to former President Donald Trump for the 2024 presidential election, saying the party needs "a candidate who can actually win."

Cornyn, a former chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee and Senate majority whip, did not endorse any other declared candidate or potential contender, though he praised Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and U.S. Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina.
"To me this all boils down to electability," Cornyn said. "I’ve been through quite a few elections in my life and there’s no prize for coming in second — in other words, losing."

They were in on it, and I and many others will never forgive or forget. I don’t hold grudges or have a bad temper, so it takes a lot to push me past the point of no return. Perhaps that was the goal all along? To get decent people to give up? I won’t do that either, but I’m not going to continue playing a rigged game with a bunch of jerks breathing rarified air who don’t give 2 cents about anything but their careers and their little cliques.
