Nancy Mace: GOP Will ‘Suffer in 2024’ Because of Abortion Laws
Breitbart ^ | 5/17/23 | Pam Key

Posted on 05/18/2023 3:50:57 AM PDT by cotton1706

Representative Nancy Mace (R-SC) said Wednesday on CNN’s “The Lead” that the Republican Party will “suffer” in the 2024 election because of several red state legislatures’ abortion bans.

Anchor Jake Tapper said, “Do you think your party will face any sort of electoral blowback for these bans, many of which do not align with polling in terms of what people want, even in conservative states people want in many polls some sort of middle ground, maybe a 12-week ban, a 15-week ban, no ban for victims of rape and incest. Do you think your party will suffer at the polls?

Mace said, “We suffered in 2022, and I believe we’ll suffer in 2024 if we don’t have a message that shows compassion for women. You can balance the two. I would garner if you were to do a ballot referendum on abortion in a conservative state like South Carolina, the majority of voters would not be in support of a six-week ban that allowed very few exceptions for a short period of time and required women to have their rapes reported to the police. That’s not going to fly with most people, whether they’re men or women.

She added, “I saw this in my own district in a very purple district last year. I saw how the issue swayed voters. It was the number two issue in our race. I even ran TV ads talking about rape. I was probably the only Republican in the country who was willing to have that very uncomfortable conversation. I was willing to fight for women regardless of their circumstances, especially to the women who went through the worst.”

She's likely ACTUALLY pro-abortion, but just can't admit it.

We just won a 50-year battle, and she's wringing her hands.

So, Nancy Mace is worried that the GOP will suffer.

What about the children, Nancy?

Back in 1973, a handful of guys in black robes decided Roe v Wade.
For the Left, that was a victory for “our democracy” and they love it.

After Dobbs, voters in each of the individual states can elect state legislators who will then vote as a body on state-level laws to determine local legality of abortion.
For the Left, this is fascism.

And RINOs think that voters don’t like it when voters have political power — and those voters will use their political power to punish the party that gave them political power on this issue.

I fear God only, no one else. It is so sad that people do not realize what is going to happen when God decides He’s had enough of all of this: Rampant immorality, abortion, rampant sexual perversion, constant lying, corruption, murder, ruining God-fearing peoples’ lives because they stand up for the truth. It’s not going to be pretty when He punishes this nation.

Suffer???

No one suffers more than a baby being murdered in his mother's womb.

she’s correct but alot of folks don’t see that. Oh, well. If the R’s make abortion the #1 focus they will lose.
Outside of religious circles, most people and especially those evil wimmin are pro choice in certain circumstances.

This is how sick this woman is that follows Satan. She believes that we’ll suffer because we can’t kill babies and yet look at the state of our nation, the degradation that is oppressing us from everywhere. She’s Wicked. That’s how blinded she is by her false idol of abortion

Total rino operative, classic winning is losing lies the pretenders spread!

They do everything the can to demoralize conservatives, this issue should be a rallying cry of unity and victory but instead this lying quisling tries to potion the win and use it to further promote murder and chaos.

You present a false dichotomy and narrative much like she does.

Stop using exceptions to paint with a broad brush everyone you disagree with.

The majority against abortion are very happy to accept a balance with reasonable exceptions in “certain circumstance.”

You can thus stop with that fallacious implication that those against abortions are an all or nothing absolute.

Some Republicans are concerned with new proposed restrictions, such as the 6 week ban. Even Donald Trump made such remarks earlier this week, saying he thought a 6 week ban, as supported by Desantis was “a bit severe”.

For Trump to say this probably means research is showing that many younger conservatives want some flexibility in the abortion laws vs an almost total restriction.

Matt Walsh spoke against these timid antiabortion so-called Republicans the other day on his show. We’ve been working for decades trying to reverse the horrific Roe abortion decision, and when we finally got the decision reversed, we walk gingerly and are afraid to make any quick movements. It’s absolutely pathetic.

The new “Americans” love abortion more than freedom. Natural born baby killers.

As much as I dislike this woman….she is right. Trump has stated a compromise is what he wants. I think the idiot Republicans should have coalesced around ….”it’s been sent back to the states where it belongs.” Now let each state decide.
But we Republicans have to shoot off both feet and cause a backlash. We won Dobbs! Let the states make their decisions and work within your state.

I wish I’d never heard the word ‘abortion’. All I’ve ever seen that issue do in fifty years of observation is get good candidates for public offices defeated by vermin. Nobody ever thought anything could turn Virginia blue.

That is what is going on. That and miscommunication of the issue that no exceptions for rape or incest would be allowed. Nancy Mace has spoken about being raped as a teen and the effect on her life so for her it’s personal. It’s a tough issue but the bottom line is as long as people don’t even consider the child and that a child is being killed, rather than solely focus on the woman, we are lost as a people.

You could easily start passing laws like heartbeat bills and bringing abortion policies in line with Europe which generally is around 12-14 weeks, and piecemeal start restricting it from there.

Doing these blanket bans unfortunately isn't working and does cause voter backlash. People have been conditioned for over 50 years and if you start talking about no exceptions for rape or incest then they're going to balk. It's bad strategy.
