Florida Republicans may love their GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis but it's former President Donald Trump, who's a resident of the state, they'd like to see in the White House in 2024, according to a poll of Sunshine State voters.

Despite recent legal battles and DeSantis' unofficial moves into the spotlight, 69% of registered GOP Floridian voters say they will back Trump in 2024, according to the poll conducted by Florida Atlantic University and Mainstreet Research. Eighteen percent of survey participants say they "somewhat support" Trump.

Survey participants said they would back Trump 59% over DeSantis at 31%.

"Former President Trump continues to be a strong candidate for the Republican nomination and his support appears durable and consistent," said Kevin Wagner an FAU political science professor.

He could of been the nominee in 2028 but I am glad kind of he did all of this because we know see him for who he is and he is a fraud. At least we can get a real maga candidat for 2028 now— Steve (@Steve72354669) May 17, 2023

Even though I’m a Trump supporter, I’d like to know the finer details. For example, are many Floridians wanting Trump because they want to keep DeSantis as governor?

I want Trump over DeSantis and I’m a Floridian who’s backed DeSantis since his first run for office.

Will Fauci be running Trump’s campaign? He sure did run the country in 2020.

My point being that Trump should stop worrying about ankle biters like DeSantis and start maturing his campaign. Otherwise, insults will just fly and nobody will win. Unifying the GOP and the nation behind it is a focus thing. When he focuses on policy, Trump is unbeatable. When he and his minions focus on issuing insults, they are vulnerable.

Unifying the GOP

Oof, that's a rough one when a wing of the GOPe wants to destroy Trump.

Yup, it sure is but I am not talking about the politicians, I am talking about the voters. I would not want to unify with Beotch McConnell and his ilk. The moderate wing of the democrat party lead by Mitch can go straight to hell.

But why? Without answering that, it is a meaningless question. For me, I want to keep our governor as a hedge to keep the blue locusts out. He belongs to us, now go away.
