A jury has found that Donald Trump sexually abused E. Jean Carroll.
The panel of six men and three women also found that Trump injured advice columnist Carroll in a Manhattan Bergdorf Goodman dressing room and defamed her, ordering the former President to pay her $5million in damages.
Trump has been accused of sexual misconduct or assault by more than two dozen women, but this has so far been the only case to end up before a jury.
Carroll, 79, sued for battery under the Adult Survivors Act, a law passed in New York that allowed a one year window for sexual assault claims normally outside of the statute of limitations.
Her claim for defamation was based on statements made by Trump, 76, when he was President and posts to Truth Social, his own social network in which he called her a liar.
Over two weeks the jury heard emotional testimony from three accusers and two of Carroll's friends, among other witnesses, while Trump himself was a no show.

You absolutely can sue her. But if it’s determined that your lawsuit is brought in bad faith such as making it up out of whole cloth, you will be the defendant of a large and expensive counter suit. Additionally if it is untrue no attorney will suborn perjury.
Additionally it will cost you a minimum of $250,000 to bring this suit to trial.
Anyone can sue anyone for the price of the filing fee. It’s entirely why the judicial reform I am for is loser pay. It would stop a lot of the windfall lawsuit lottery claims accepted on a contingency basis for an attorney.
Curious...did the jury, this event happened but not the way you said it did, here, take 5 million dollars. I mean if he probably kissed you without you wanting it how hard is it to say he probably raped you too... at the same location, in the same time period...we just don’t think he went all the way. This is not justice by any means

This is not criminal. There is no Brady material (exculpatory). There is only a preponderance of the evidence. Trump presented no evidence as such it is irrelevant she had no date. Her accusations were not countered in a tort. She wins by default.

The Dems can wave it around like a bloody shirt. The lawsuit was not for the purpose of giving Carroll some free cash for her “injuries,” but to amplify questionable allegations in front of a biased jury for political purposes. They got that. They’re not going to let it go, and they’ll treat a payment as proof of guilt. So you fight law-fare with law-fare. Appeal every pre-trial ruling or trial court ruling that has any chance. Claim that while individually these are harmless error, but cumulatively they are reversible error. And when the first level of appellate court shoots that down, go one higher, to the Court of Appeals, then find a federal issue, and so on and so forth and dooby dooby dooby. When E. Jean Carrol is old and in a nursing home, what’s left of her award can be used to pay off the Medicare lien on her old home, so her grandkids can have a hang-out pad. And President Barron Trump will instruct his personal attorney, Andrew Giuliani, to liquidate some asset or other on behalf of his late father’s estate to give her some senile satisfaction.

What’s the point of brushing up on the law? It comes down to whether or not you’re liked by the government. If that isn’t clear by now we’ll then...you aren’t really paying attention. There was a woman who accused Biden of fingerings her. There is at least evidence beyond a picture at a celebrity event that he knew her and was around her regularly at the time. They shut her up, and would give her the time of day. Can any reasonable person, at this point, say that given the exact same facts Trump wouldn’t be hauled before a court (at the very least) and found liable. There is no justice system. That is gone. Who cares about brusing up on it. 10s of millions just declared themselves legal and nothing will ever be done about it. Think

This was not a criminal trial... so, no.
if the defendant KNEW that the court would find for the accuser.. no matter what... in what was known to be a foregone conclusion that would be appealled.. it would be stupid to go on the stand to give more items to be questioned, challenged, accused and prosecuted under a newly triggered statute of limitations.
trump will appeal. trump will overturn this due to the ex poste facto application of a recently created “addition” to the statute of limitation alone.

Didn’t the judge say that even if Trump kissed her he could be found guilty. Translated there was no rape or sexual assault in terms of what one woudl think of so now kissing her is sexual abuse. What a very bad joke.
I disagree. This verdict was a done deal. They were going to find Trump liable no matter what he did.
