The Dutch government has announced it will expand current euthanasia laws to allow medical assistance in dying for young children between the ages of one and 12 years old.
According to the press release from the government, this will end the "hopeless and unbearable suffering" of up to 10 children each year who are terminally ill.
Dutch Health Minister Ernst Kuipers, a doctor before becoming a politician, said, "This is a particularly complex subject that deals with very harrowing situations. I am pleased that, after intensive consultation with all parties involved, we have come to a solution with which we can help these terminally ill children, their parents, and also their practitioners."
The Netherlands was the first country in the world to legalize euthanasia, with the practice being decriminalized in 2002.
Since the introduction of euthanasia laws, children as young as 12 have been permitted to be euthanized.

The latest government data shows that, in 2021, 7,666 people were euthanized, equating to 4.5% of total deaths in The Netherlands.
Over 60% of these people had incurable cancers.

I have been trying this figure out why they have been in the news since much. It’s like the Netherlands just popped into existence.
After living in Germany and now here… I know what the media says about a country isn’t necessarily true. And I are not spent a day in Amsterdam.

Yes, incurable long term pain deserves whatever is needed to stop the pain. My brother in law died last month from stomach cancer. He was on fentanyl for last 6months because none of the other pain killers were working. He went from 210 lbs to 110 in one year because unable to eat. Why doctors kept him alive with fentanyl for 6 more months of agony? Seems inhumane. Laws need to be changed. Netherlands is more humane obviously.

I’ve been a doctor since 1976 and the path my career has taken has shown me every possible angle of unbearable suffering.
Here’s my take in this:
Medical euthanasia should remain illegal. Laws like those in Europe are easily abused. I’ve been asked to “end the suffering” of wealthy relatives by people who think, or who know, that they stand to benefit more than a few times.
However.
When I teach the younglings, I tell them, “No doctor, who in the course of caring for his own patient, administers or orders pain relief which is powerful enough under the right circumstances to stop breathing, has ever been convicted of a crime”.
This does not mean that an ambitious DA could never get you indicted and tried - THAT has happened a few times.
Kevorkian is where he belongs, if he’s still alive. He was a mass murderer, hiding under the guise of providing mercy.
But if you do this work long enough, and you don’t abandon your patient when your treatments don’t work any more, the
right situation is going to come up.
Those who say don’t know. Those who know don’t say.

And who, pray tell, gets to decide the definition of “unbearable suffering”. Liberals aren’t happy unless they are living a self-inflicted miserable life. One that I would call “unbearable suffering.” Are they potential “euthanasia” driven population control targets? What about retarded college kids who can’t afford to pay off their student loans or ancestors of so-called African Slaves waiting for their “reparations” checks from Americans who never owned one slave and the only slavery they ever agreed with is that self-inflicted slavery run by the NFL and NBA?
