That was an amazing story, Kathy! That hero, Master Sergeant Roy Benavidez, was one heckuva man!
With all his injuries, it almost seems like it would be easier to list the parts that were not wounded! It must have been astonishing for the others to see that body bag moving. After examining him, the doctor could have said "he's still alive and spitting" (instead of he's still alive and kicking"), and the strikingly resilient Benavidez could have said "here's spit in your eye" (instead of "here's mud in your eye"). He sacrificed so much to save others.
(May God rest his faithful soul.)
I hope I'm not violating any rules for these wonderful "Hall of Heroes" threads if I sneak in one song here, before going back to family things. I also hope this song is a blessing for everyone. It is about Someone who also sacrificed so much to save others.

Good evening, Janey...((HUGS))...hope you are enjoying some spring weather.
We have been snowing all day, gently, but everything is white again.

Hey there, radu!
It was very nice here, too. Got up to just under 80 degrees, but that was late in the afternoon. It was cloudy part of the day, and I hoped it would rain, but no dice.
I’m glad you finally had a beautiful...and hopefully, dry...day there, too! ‘Bout time, huh!

We didn’t get quite as warm as you did but did break 70. It’ll be nice and dry most of the week and the mower is going to get a workout. I’ll do all I can through Wednesday, then give my back a break so I can survive next Saturday.

Good evening, radu...hope you had a dry and warm day.
It has been snowing here all day. I’ve shoveled my deck twice and we’ve had a solid 3”. And my plow guy just scared me to death...what was that horrible noise just this minute? I got up to look and it’s the plow blade on what was dry asphalt just a couple days ago. I’m ready for the snow to stop!

A solid 3” by 8pm, and it’s supposed to start again. So glad I work from home.

Good evening, Mooch, and Happy Passover to you and yours. Have you had lots to do? Lots to enjoy?
Is it spring now? 3” of new snow in the last 18 hours here, and more to come they say.

Hey there, Kathy.
Yes, we had a gorgeous warm, dry day here. Most welcome after the few ugly days we had.
You aren’t kidding about snow up there! I pulled up the Lake Hood cam and it wasn’t snowing. I blinked and it was snowing pretty hard, and it kept on until not long ago. It looks like it might still be snowing along the mountains because they aren’t visible at all.
I imagine your plow guy startled your neighbors as well as you with that racket. It would have made me jump out of my skin. LOL
I’ll bet that more than anyone the plow guys are ready for the snow to stop. They’ve busted their humps trying to keep streets and the airport runways clear for far too long.
Come on, Spring!

He was, for sure, an amazing man. So many injuries, and then he had to let them know he was alive. Imagine the doc’s surprise.
Music is always welcome, Songcraft, and that is a perfect song. Thank you!
Rest well, Songcraft!

Nice and dry sounds really good for you. I hope the grass isn’t shoulder high after all that rain. LOL! This will be the ultimate test for the mower. 🚜

Nice and dry sounds good for the area farmers too. It’s tie to plow and they haven’t been able to. I pass a lot of fields between here and the museum and only one had been plowed as of last Thursday.
The grass here isn’t all that tall yet but it’s thick in a lot of spots. The mower can handle it but I won’t be able to go as fast as I did when I mowed along the driveway. That needs to be mowed again but it’ll have to wait. The yard around this house is first.
