The smearing of the inconvenient justice continues.
ProPublica often practices what you might call Potemkin journalism — dressing up non-stories with neutral-sounding reporting verbiage and lots of graphs and pictures that at first glance make them seem important, but in actuality tell us very little.
One of the best examples of the practice can be found in today’s smearing of Clarence Thomas, favorite hobbyhorse of leftists since 1991. In it we learn that the Supreme Court justice has a super-rich friend. And that super-rich friend, GOP donor Harlan Crow, invites Thomas on “luxury” vacations from time to time at his “private resort,” “sprawling ranch,” “all-male retreat,” and on his “superyacht.” As all the adjectives strongly suggest, all of it is very upscale. Most of the luxury vacations that happen “virtually every year,” it seems, have Clarence and Ginni Thomas spending “about a week” during the summer as guests at one of Crow’s resorts in the Adirondacks.

There’s evidence Thomas has taken even more trips on the superyacht. Crow often gave his guests custom polo shirts commemorating their vacations, according to staff. ProPublica found photographs of Thomas wearing at least two of those shirts. In one, he wears a blue polo shirt embroidered with the Michaela Rose’s logo and the words “March 2007” and “Greek Islands.”
There are, indeed, lots of incriminating pictures in the piece — even a shot of a signed book! — because people who do furtive, illegal, corrupt stuff always wear commemorative custom-made polo shirts of their trips and then take lots of snapshots. Evidence, indeed.

I suspect they will make a rule that conservative justices can only have friends who make $75,000 or less per year.
From what I’ve read, Justice Thomas goes away for a week after the end of the Court term and vacations with a small group of close friends. The final opinion of the term is usually issued on the last Thursday of June (it varies on the number of remaining cases in which the opinion hasn’t been issued). They avoid their cell phones, read, and chat just like numerous close friends do all over this nation. It’s “down-time”. Any rules that would prevent him from continuing this tradition would seem to be a violation of First Amendment rights.

I watched Thomas’s Supreme Court hearings, and during them developed a deep loathing for Joe Biden!
It has grown even deeper since.

To be clear, it was Thomas’s onfirmation hearing to the Supreme Court.
I consider Clarence Thomas to be one of if not the best Supreme Court judges in our Republics history.

I spend a couple long weekends on a friends yacht every year. Not a super yacht, but still, seems like a normal friend stuff to me. I also have friends with vacation homes that I go to on occasion. Again, just something friends do. I don’t have any friends with private jets, but I do have one who is a commercial pilot that has hooked me up with “buddy passes”.
Has Harlan Crow had a case before the Supreme Court? Obviously not, or THAT is what the headline would be. And I have zero doubt that if Harlan Crow ever DOES have a case before SCOTUS, Thomas would recuse himself. He strikes me as one of the most honorable justices on the court in some time.
Rush said that Justice Thomas was seen at a NASCAR event in his RV bus. Oh the horrors.
I had a friend who's dad was quite wealthy back when I was a teen. He often would invite several of us along when they went on their two week jaunt.
They stayed at places where you could not get in if you were John Q Public even if you could afford it.
