It's a time-honored rule: When staying in a hotel, always check to make sure you've got the right room number.
That goes double if you're breaking down the door:
NY POST Tweet:
FBI agents handcuff, interrogate Delta pilot after entering wrong hotel room in training mishap https://trib.al/MIS6uvn
A Boston hotel guest was awakened in the middle of the night by federal agents who barged into his room, handcuffed him, threw him into the shower and interrogated him for an hour — before they realized they had entered the wrong room.
So it seems these consummate professional were engaged in a training exercise in which they were supposed to barge into the hotel room, toss a paid actor into the bathroom, and grill him for a while.
I don't exactly know why this is part of the FBI's training repertoire. What exactly is this supposed to teach the agents? How to interrogate a dude on the payroll? There's no field application there. It's kind of beyond me.
Also beyond me is how federal agents could do something as basically stupid as get the wrong room number. But they did:
They pushed into the room, handcuffed the pilot and reportedly put him in the shower, according to the station.
Then the agents interrogated the man, said to be in his 30s, for nearly an hour until they realized they had the wrong guy.
You just have to imagine how that poor guy felt being on the receiving end of what he imagined was a legitimate FBI interrogation.
And you just got to love picturing the other guy waiting in his hotel room for the FBI agents to show up, wondering where the heck they were.
Let's hope this guy parlays his troubles into a hefty payout from the dunderheaded FBI!
“Everyone needs to practice saying, “I’m happy to talk to you as soon as my lawyer gets here.” The key is to just keep repeating that.”
No, just “I want a lawyer.”
When they tell you you can’t have one, ask “Am I under arrest?” If they say “no”, say “then release me and get out of my room”.
If they refuse, say “I’m clearly under arrest. I want a lawyer.”
KA-CHING! Love to know how much of our tax money goes to keep him quiet, and the name of the person in charge of this fiasco.
Great point.
I’m just a little salty cuz my kids are late getting in for the weekend due to an 8 am Delta flight delay.
And each agent should pay his fair share. It should not come from the budget.
‘Could the pilot not have had the ‘clot shot’’
Not if he’s working for a major airline.
It wasn’t part of the exercise... at least that’s what they told him after they realized their foul up.
About 3 lustrum ago when I had sons in Boy Scouts, one of the Dads was an retired FBI field man. During one night around the Saturday night campfire he said that wrong addresses happen quite frequently. Breaking and entering however was very in-frequent primarily because getting ventilated was a situation they wanted to avoid. They usually surrounded the place if possible and made enough noise pounding on the door and such to spook the target into running.
He said one time when they had the wrong address, the homeowner met them at the door holding a sandwich. He then invited them to come in for lunch but apologized that he didn’t have enough sandwich meat for everybody (about 6 guys) - some would get peanut butter and jelly.
Hopefully those lighter times are not past us ...
And yet, somehow, the pizza deliver guy manages to deliver to the right address every time.
Perhaps they should hire those guys.
Get the politicians out of the FBI and put some competent people in charge.
BEST way to traon a team is to send them into a room with no observer.
They learned real good.
Now, hit Trump or some pro-lifer praying at Adoration.
So they let the guy go and said “And let that be a lesson for you fella, don’t ever break the law”.
Those background check investigators are all contractors.
Can’t get anything past those FIB boys huh.
I think it was a SWATTING, but our ‘friends’ at the FBI, who still won’t apologize to Trump over Russian ‘Collusion’, are totally embarrassed by it and instead claim ‘the wrong room number’.
Right.
Yea, I know. Still not really smart
Delta did not mandate the vax for existing hires.
OK. I thought that is was only PRC (Politically Repressive Canaduh) that required the ‘clot shot’ for pilots.
Interesting. Yes, it might have been swatting. Could have been revenge. Whatever it was, it wasn’t a training exercise. It obviously was not.
I’m wondering about his underwear drawer.
“The pilot should hang a “I hate Trump” placard on the room door to keep the FBI away.”
Or just a “trannie Muslims for Obama” sign.
