Timing is everything, and the timing here is simultaneously transparent and inappropriate.
Today the Florida Senate scheduled a change via committee vote of the “Resign to Run” law for next Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at 2:00pm. The intent of the change is almost certainly to permit Governor Ron DeSantis to formally announce his 2024 candidacy without having to resign his job as governor.

Right now he would be running for the nomination. Wouldn’t that be a technicality? If he doesn’t win the nomination, he’s not really running for the Presidency. Or do I have that wrong?
Bob Dole did this right. He resigned to run. Also, he waited his turn.
Given what happened this afternoon, De Santis should announce he is not running and endorse Trump.
And got slaughtered.
Best ticket would be: Pompeo/DeSantis. Pompeo has International experience that DeSantis lacks.
And don't start with the CIA bit..he was appointed by Trump. Please look around at his writings and bio...impressive. Smart, a Patriot, and experienced!!

The 2024 Presidential election is not “politics as usual”. That ship has now sailed. It should be every Republican’s goal, whether they agree with Trump’s personality or not, to make sure that Trump is not only elected as the GOP nominee, but to make sure he is our nation’s President in 2025. To do otherwise suggests you are supportive of the current path of our nation and its further total destruction.
Just review in your mind all the instances of criminal conduct by Democrats in just criminal memory. Heck, just think of the actions of the Clinton’s and Biden’s. All with no repercussions. If that is not enough to make you a solid Trump supporter, just look at the current President’s declaration today of the “Trans Day of Visibility. That after the murders of those children in Tennessee. That was an endorsement of further violence by the fake-gender activists. Is that what you want for your and your children’s future?
We can not have a GOP President who is not aware of the evilness of these people. Trump is now very well aware. It’s worse than he thought. I believe he is the only one that deal with them.
Seems like the timing for this maneuver isn’t bad at all.
Changing the rule after he announces a presidential run would be bad timing.
Meanwhile Heavy D sends a strong signal to the rest of the field about his intentions.
