New York Grand Jury Indicts Donald Trump
Breitbart ^ | 30 Mar 2023 | MATTHEW BOYLE

A grand jury in New York has indicted former President Donald Trump, according to emerging reports.

“A Manhattan grand jury voted to indict Donald J. Trump on Thursday for his role in paying hush money to a porn star, according to four people with knowledge of the matter, a historic development that will shake up the 2024 presidential race and forever mark him as the nation’s first former president to face criminal charges,” the New York Times reported on Thursday evening.

“The felony indictment, filed under seal by the Manhattan district attorney’s office, will likely be announced in the coming days. By then, prosecutors working for the district attorney, Alvin L. Bragg, will have asked Mr. Trump to surrender and to face arraignment on charges that remain unknown for now.”

Trump, reacting to the news, bashed the decision as “Political Persecution and Election Interference at the highest level in history.”

“From the time I came down the golden escalator at Trump Tower, and even before I was sworn in as your President of the United States, the Radical Left Democrats – the enemy of the hard-working men and women of this Country – have been engaged in a Witch-Hunt to destroy the Make America Great Again movement,” Trump said in a statement responding to the news he has been indicted. “You remember it just like I do: Russia, Russia, Russia; the Mueller Hoax; Ukraine, Ukraine, Ukraine; Impeachment Hoax 1; Impeachment Hoax 2; the illegal and unconstitutional Mar-a-Lago raid; and now this. The Democrats have lied, cheated and stolen in their obsession with trying to ‘Get Trump,’ but now they’ve done the unthinkable – indicting a completely innocent person in an act of blatant Election Interference. Never before in our Nation’s history has this been done...

A grand jury indictment is not as bad as people seem to think. It is SUPPOSED to mean only that there was PROBABLE CAUSE of a crime for which they can arrest.

But WHAT IS THE CRIME???

The grand jury (GJ) process is flawed IMO because it is a one-sided dog and pony show put on by the prosecution with no defense attorney and no rules of evidence.

I think the GJ system has been perverted over the years. I don’t think you used to be able to indict a ham sandwich like you can now.

Eugene Debs ran for president in 1920, I believe, from his prison cell.

Of course he can. He hasn’t been convicted of anything.

Boycott New York City. Let them rot in their own corruption.

So, does this mean that President Trump is going to be arrested?

Need some justification for “So while case proceeds he can’t run.”

Your source for that statement?

I think I know why this suddenly came up today, after them putting the Grand Jury on hiatus just a couple days ago:

Now that Senate Bill 686 (Should be known as Satan’s Bill 666) is becoming more widely understood, they had to come up with an emergency distraction from their unprecedented, massive, unconstitutional thugocratic power grab.

Another mass shooting would take a couple of days to set up. All this would take to put in action was a phone call or text message to Bragg or Letitia James.

They voluntarily signed a contract for money. Businesses, government, religious denominations, and schools do this regularly for non-disclosure reasons.

Trump, at worst, made a bookkeeping error. At worst. That’s the charge of business records fraud. The charge is that he listed something as a business expense that isn’t one.

COHEN paid Stormy Daniels. He says Trump told him to, but Cohen was the one who wrote the check to Daniels to pay for the NDA. (NDAs are routine, BTW.) Did Trump pay him? That’s the allegation.

But business records errors, even if criminal, are a misdemeanor with a two-year statute of limitations. So Bragg cannot legally use that.

So Bragg had to dig up a Federal law — whcih he has NO jurisdiction to enforce — to try to turn a non-crime with an expired statute of limitations into a felony. But he inverted the law, and it isn’t even applicable anyway.

Federal law says you can’t use campaign money for personal expenses, but what Bragg is charging Trump with is using his personal money for campaign purposes.

Now, Trump is entitled to throw billions of his own money at his campaign if he can and chooses to. So Bragg is already wrong on the law.

Either the NDA is a campaign expense or it isn’t. If it is, as I wrote above, Trump can put all his money into it if he wants. If it isn’t, then there is no crime here.

The law says that if there is another purpose, such as to protect his marriage and family and/or to protect his company and its brand, then it cannot be considered a campaign expense. So either way, there is no crime here.

This case was already rejected by the Feds and by Bragg’s predecessor, Cyrus Vance. Bragg, despite campaigning on “get Trump,” also rejected prosecuting him, until a couple of his deputies resigned over it.

But getting their political enemy is much more important than the actual law.

The DA just re-elected Trump.

And I thought the BLM/Antifa riots assured Trump's re-election. I was wrong.

At least half the country is cheering for the D.A. And they're the half that counts the votes on election day.
