An NDA? People and first ask for the and get them all the time. How can this be criminal? Unless one were asked to not disclose criminal practices, which would obviously make such an agreement null and void.

It’s a NDA, not a campaign contribution. Corporations pay NDAs All the time. The Manhattan DA’s office has too. Every US attorney’s office has when they hire people or remove people and give them a severance or whatever. And of course this is from a prosecutor who doesn’t prosecute other people.

If it was a camp[aign expense, he paid with his own money. No crime.

If it wasn’t — and the law says that if there is anothe rpurpose, such as protecting your family or business — then there’s no crime.

Yet somehow, Cohen’s corrupt Clintonista lawyer manage do get him to plead guilty to both of those things.

I looked at New York election finance law at the time and Trump didn’t violate it because the dollar amount wasn’t over the limit.

Trump claimed it was paid to save his marriage. Given the cost of a Trump divorce, that argument is highly credible.

Rich men often have roving eyes. Americans generally tolerate it.

The term blackmail has been used. NY and CA district attorneys seem to have page deprived copies of their state criminal codes.

Cohen probably carried a lot of money around NYC and probably got to see the Woolworth Building often.

They know they have no case here. They just want to humiliate Trump and drag “Stormy” back into the public conversation.

The way I see it, the NDA is like a receipt & protects the blackmailer from being charged with a crime.

Since there’s nothing illegal or shady about it, why didn’t Trump use one of his proper lawyers instead of going to someone like Cohen, who is the kind of scumbag you go to when you want dirty deeds done?

Threats of or a filing of a suit are often settled out of court for many reasons. Wealthy people often just see them as nuisance suits.

This is all about the politics of personal destruction.

It has nothing to do with laws or the legal system.

It wasn’t an NDA, President Trump simply paid off a grifter to avoid hurting his wife and son’s feelings. He would have done this whether he was running for office or not. In the end, all he got from this was his Virtue Damaged.
