Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni told political opponents on Wednesday she will not bow to the political pressure exerted by powerful elites in favor of open borders.
Speaking during Question Time in the Chamber of Deputies, Meloni responded to questions related to her government’s handling of the ever-increasing migratory pressure in the Mediterranean following government data published this week that revealed more than 20,000 people have now reached the country so far this year.
“As long as there are departures on boats in bad condition, navigating in bad weather conditions, there will be loss of life,” she told parliamentary colleagues.
“We need to invest in legal routes, and that is exactly the job the government is doing. Our conscience is clear. I hope that whoever attacks the government but does not say a word about smugglers can say the same,” she added.
She offered a staunch defense of the country’s coastguard, which came under considerable scrutiny from Italy’s left-wing press in the aftermath of the migrant boat tragedy in the Ionian Sea, which cost several dozen lives.
The Italian premier expressed her amazement that “for political ends, we end up questioning the honor and the work of people who risk their lives every day to save human lives and the honor of Italy.”
On the wider migratory issue gripping the nation, Meloni highlighted that “for several months we have been witnessing a migratory pressure that has few precedents toward Europe and Italy,” and despite calls from humanitarian lobbyists and political opponents, she “has no intention of bowing to the many powerful pressures of those who would like a vision without national borders.”
She reiterated her desire to “firmly combat illegal traffickers and manage immigration in a regular way” through government decree and subsequent legislation.

All non-western immigration should be banned to western country, I don’t care how intelligent or “anti-communist” onon-western immigrants are. Western civilization is European civilization - let the Asians, Africans, and middle easterners stay within their own countries and May us westerners work on preserving our culture and I don’t mean bourgeois white collar suburban “knowledge worker” capitalist culture either, which leads to a melting pot (a left wing idea btw) of decadent cultural filth.
When I am President I will implement my two stage illegal immigration policy:
1. Put a bounty on illegals - anyone can bring them in, dead or alive.
2. The live ones get a one way ride on a military flight going to any destination NOT in North or South America. USAF flies training and supply routes all over the world. Web seats work for active duty, they are more than any illegal deserves. To prove we are not heartless each evacuee gets 1 bottle of water. It’s a long flight - make it last.

How about a different tact:
1. Declare Mexico drug and human trafficking cartels terrorists and pursue them into Mexico with our military with orders to kill their leaders.
2. Declare a 20 mile deep (into Mexico) DMZ along our entire southern border and if necessary, do the same with Canada . Declare that it will be occupied, manned and defended by the U.S. military.
3. Any illegal alien caught attempting to enter the U.S. through Mexico or Canada will result in immediate deportation and a fine against (Mexico or Canada) of $5-million per alien caught.
These measures should end illegal entry into the U.S.
Only 20,000. Must be nice.
