Perhaps Lauren Sforza of The Hill might consider obtaining a more comprehensive thesaurus. For years, the media overused the word "pounce" as in "Republicans pounced" when portraying the GOP as taking implied unfair advantage of a situation to the detriment of the Democrats. In fact, "pounce" had been hyped so often that it eventually became a laughable cliché which eventually became embarrassing to use especially due to outlets such as NewsBusters pointing out the absurd frequency of the term in the liberal media.
As a result, synonyms were found to replace "pounce" of which "seize" and "jump" were among the favorites. Unfortunately, those latter terms ended up being overused as well to the extent that new synonyms need to be found.
An example of "seized" and "jump" being used when the author would dearly love to write the tried and true "pounce" occurred on Sunday when Sforza wrote "Republicans jump on ‘lab leak’ report, call for action against China."

If anybody “seized” onto the china virus it’s Pfizer.
“gleefully grabs”, “unfairly utilizes”, “without any other evidence”
Of course, the nefariuos GOP is “seizing” on the issue.

It has been 3 years. If you guys can NOT get to the bottom of this then we need NEW GUYS. Step down and move on. No way this takes 3 years. (NCIS does it in 60 min :))
It really doesn’t matter if whatever is being seized upon is true or not, what matters is who is repeating the talking points.
With multiple Federal Agencies now saying the lab leak theory is probably true, all it takes is for the MSM to repeat the lie that repeating this information is a conspiracy theory and 45-50% of the people will believe it, which efficiently thwarts the facts about the origin of the virus.
The problem with the media is more fundamental than the choice of “pounce”, “jump”, or “seize”. The problem is that instead of making a story about whether there was a lab leak and the consequences...e.g. news...they make the story about trying to discredit those that think there was a Lab Leak and Republicans. Moreover, they do so without having any rational basis so they use bogus techniques like the genetic fallacy.
The longer this goes on the greater the stench from the rot. There’s something they do not want us to know. Why?
This really was an outrage.
Right wing media splashed this report as “The DOE has declared the virus origin was a lab leak”.
It did NOT splash “The DOE, in a report declared by them to be low confidence, has stated the virus origin was a lab leak.”
This does a disservice to conservatism. And it drags right wing pundits into filth that they didn’t have to endure.
Absurd reporting.
I thought the right word was “Pouncing”.
Oh yeah I can tell you 1 thing definitively though I was following this Before even knows be a virus It was still called an unknown virus and what drew me to the story was the rumours that china was deploying portable crematoriums to Wuhan to burn bodies from this outbreak
Not Rab Reak. Bat Soup. Yes.
leaped, bounded, tackled, highlighted, exemplified, etc.
A variation of the good old “Republicans Pounce” story that Dan Bongino always talks about.
And Blue state Govs
REPUBLICANS POUNCE
BASELESS
UNFOUNDED
It was a “lab leak” the same way a bucket leaks when you punch a hole in the bottom.
Is that like “pouncing?”
The USA financed the development of the virus. It was a biological war weapon. It was released deliberately, probably with depopulation in mind. Lots of things the Left and the government don’t want us to know.
