The criticism from the USMC Scout Sniper Association comes after Marine Corps leadership issued a memo ordering "immediate transition of Scout Sniper Platoons to Scout Platoons" as part of the Force Design 2030 plan to restructure how the branch operates.

They’ve had brilliant wins in Vietnam, Iraq and afghanistan.
How about an audit of Federal agencies with Sniper Teams?
If we don’t need them for our enemies, no need for domestic teams, eh?
There are also new MOS’s for hair styling and interior decorating. Flight attendant will replace load master.
You said a mouthful.....
It depends on your definition of marksman. In the US Military a “designated marksman” can shoot from 500 to 600 meters consistently but generally patrols with the rest of his squad. A sniper can shoot out to 2000 meters. and is more trained in bushcraft to scout alone or with a spotter. I sincerely doubt that “everyone” in the Canadian infantry could qualify as a designated marksman as this is still a very high degree of precision that few can really accomplish.
They want the marine corps Woke Proof. They can’t have aggressive snipers. Our woke people might be offended.
Snipers are extremely cost-effective on the battlefield. They can slow enemy troop movements to a crawl. They can assassinate senior enemy command officers. They can cause grave sabotage to weapons, transport and fuel. They can neutralize missiles and aircraft.
They can also glean a lot of ground intelligence, as well as emplace sensors and passive beacons, and predesignate targets with lasers that can later be used as target reference points.
While the military talks a lot about “multiplying factors” on the battlefield, snipers have just the opposite effect, acting as “divisive factors” against the enemy.
A sniper platoon plus and EOD (Explosive Ordnance Demolitions) platoon could effectively neutralize a country.
Pew pew pew pew.
Bad intentions . . . a complete moron gets something right every now and then, just by accident. . . .
No armor, no artillery, no snipers. Maybe horse cavalry is coming to the Marine Corps? Cannon fodder is the future of the Corps.
In Marine Corps Sniper school, at least when I was in, you made your own ghillie suit to match the terrain of where you were training and the current climate conditions.
So, with our new poufter platoons, they can make them any color they want!!
LOL!
Ping.
It’s not Austin doing it, but the woke and dumb Commandant General David Berger, who’s hellbent on turning the USMC strictly into security guards for the Navy.
The new camo will be FABULOUS with all the colors of the rainbow to show the inclusive nature of our fighters.
Sam Brinton wasn’t stealing women’s clothing from airports. He is testing the new camo Marines will be required to wear.
They are eliminating the Scout Sniper Basic Course as well.
As a former A-6 Bombardier/Navigator (B/N) with time on the ground as a Forward Air Controller (FAC): Marine Corps Scout Snipers, along with AC-130 Gunships, A-10 Warthogs, and Dual Purpose Improved Conventional Munitions (DPICM) are among a few of my favorite things.
As far as I am concerned, there is no such thing as too many Scout Snipers, but if you find yourself in “Operations Other than War,” they are indispensable.
To compare, you need 4 quals to qualify for us special forces units. Coming out of battleschool I had 28. By time I left I was much higher. It’s apples and oranges. The commonwealth armies are the best trained and of them, Canadian have historically have been the best. All that is moot these days in the days of wokeness. One section of us (8) stopped an entire armoured division advance years ago at NTC. That commander was RTUed, but the point was made.
Where did this decision originate - with The Corps itself or from higher within the DoD?
who’s the genius what came up wi this brilliant idea?
Good grief, spouting off about your quals again?
