It depends on your definition of marksman. In the US Military a “designated marksman” can shoot from 500 to 600 meters consistently but generally patrols with the rest of his squad. A sniper can shoot out to 2000 meters. and is more trained in bushcraft to scout alone or with a spotter. I sincerely doubt that “everyone” in the Canadian infantry could qualify as a designated marksman as this is still a very high degree of precision that few can really accomplish.
To compare, you need 4 quals to qualify for us special forces units. Coming out of battleschool I had 28. By time I left I was much higher. It’s apples and oranges. The commonwealth armies are the best trained and of them, Canadian have historically have been the best. All that is moot these days in the days of wokeness. One section of us (8) stopped an entire armoured division advance years ago at NTC. That commander was RTUed, but the point was made.
