Gun control activist David Hogg tweeted Sunday that Americans “have no right to a gun,” suggesting that the right to keep and bear arms applies only to members of the militia.
Hogg tweeted:You have no right to a gun. You are not a militia. When you’re talking about your second amendment rights you’re talking about a states right to have what is today the national guard. The modern interpretation of 2A is a ridiculous fraud pushed for decades by the gun lobby.

When you’re talking about your second amendment rights you’re talking about a states right to have what is today the national guard.
Wrong and wrong. And the "national guard," as the name implies, is basically an arm of DOD anyway, only under state control under certain circumstances. And the amendment specifically says "the right of the people". Can you read, Hogg?

Anytime the constitution says “the right of the people” means it’s an individual right. The purpose of the constitution and bill of rights is to limit what government can do, not to tell individuals what they can or cannot do.

This is just clickbait from Breitbart. They know people dislike Hogg. They know the statement is inflammatory. So they’ll get clicks. But the reality is that what Hogg says about the Constitutional right to bear arms is meaningless and based on ignorance.
Exactly. One way to ensure a “well-regulated militia” is by affirming the right of the “people” to have weapons should the need for self-defense arise. Likewise, the Framers easily could have said that a well-regulated militia would be achieved by not infringing upon the right of that militia to keep and bear arms. Instead, the language directly connects a well-regulated militia to the right of the people to keep and bear arms.
He’s a clueless clown trying to make bank off of the sympathies of other clueless clowns. It’s all a hustle!

The plain words and meaning of the 2nd amendment are not in dispute. It recognizes an INDIVIDUAL right to KEEP and BEAR arms.
