How in the hell do the delegates who represent Tyson’s Corner mall vote against this bill?

Tysons’s lies across two districts represented by Murphy and Seibold, both of whom voted against the bill:

And, of course, all the Arlington County delegates, including Lopez, whose district includes Pentagon City Mall, voted nay, even while carjackings, which were only a couple years ago non-existent in Arlington, are common now:

But equity and social justice...

From the headline I thought it was retailing that was becoming a felony in Virginia. Sadly, things are so bad I thought it might be true and not just a poorly worded headline.

quote “with the intent to sell the stolen goods for profit”

*sigh* it WOULD of been a good law, but they put too many qualifiers into it. How can you “prove” they were going to sell it for profit?

I bet some liberal snuck that in there at the last minute to make it useless, but sound like they are doing something.

Exactly! Who dreamed up $5,000 in 90 days? They rarely get caught, so tallying that up is not likely. How about $100 on ANY offense? Repeat offenses move it up to Class 1 felony.

This is far too weak.

“Organized retail to become Class 3 felony in Virginia, as states fight back against billions in theft”

If I read the headline as written, I can only assume it will be illegal to open a retail store in Virginia when the law goes into effect.

tomorrow they do another one that nets $4999 and they can’t be prosecuted.
@@@@@@@@@@

And give it away .....

If not selling for profit there’s no grounds for prosecution.

WHO is doing the bookkeeping to find the $5000 limit???

This is all a dog & pony show——smoke & mirrors.

ANY law student can tear apart the “he stole $5000 or more”.

“”$5,000 in a 80 day period””

You’re right. Keeping a scorecard of how much they steal and in what period of time is sheer lunacy... WHO on earth comes up with stuff this stupid and insane? What kind of staff do legislators hire who dream this up...even the legislators themselves couldn’t be that stupid. COULD THEY?

I hope they don’t forget to claim the stolen property value on their taxes.

I have a problem with this.

It should be a federal crime because most of the crap ends up on amazon, ebay & the-like.

Additionally, the left crows about microprinting serial numbers on bullets; somebody tell me why they can’t put s/n on any packaged product in the form of a small QR code to feed a database on stolen merchandise and make seller platforms responsible for vetting merchandise as genuinely NOT stolen.

So evidently a thief could steal $1500 a month,

$1500 per month/ number of co-conspirators. And what is the return on face value of stolen and fenced property?

If a group wants to make an actual living doing this they are going to go way over the $5000/90 day period

MSN lied about its own source. I didn’t find it on Fox News.

I found it through a quick search engine news request, which led me to the separate Fox Business site.

It will be a Class 3 felony for anyone to conspire or act in concert with one or more people to steal retail merchandise with a value exceeding $5,000 in a 90-day period, with the intent to sell the stolen goods for profit.

$5,000 is way to high - make it $1,500.
