Buttigieg appeared on MSNBC's 'The ReidOut' with Joy Reid to defend his visit..
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg appeared to blame former President Trump and Republicans like Sen. Marco Rubio’s, R-Fla., for the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, Thursday after facing intense backlash for his own performance.

Reid continued to harp on Republican criticism of Buttigieg, remarking on Rubio's call for him to resign.
"You mentioned political silly season. I mean, it is. It’s a campaign season. One of the people who have taken a lot of the blame and taken a lot of the bricks is you. Senator Marco Rubio said you should resign. There’s been a lot of criticism over the time it took to arrive, for you to personally go, for the president to go. And they’re even using the president’s trip to Ukraine as a wedge. What do you have to say to Senator Rubio, who is blaming you and saying you should resign as a result of what happened in East Palestine?" Reid asked.
Buttigieg answered, "Well, the strange thing about hearing that from Senator Rubio is that the last time I had gotten a communication from him about railroad regulation was when he had signed a letter asking us to weaken our inspection practices.

Figures, pathetic
Good ... let him play the blame game. That’ll end up sinking his fabulous ship. Good riddance.
Keep digging, Pete. Keep digging. Its a real good look to have you on TV talking about the political blame game while East Palestine still is a toxic swamp.
Yeah, it’s Trump’s fault you haven’t evacuated people for three weeks while they’re breathing in toxic fumes.
Seek help for your mental illness, sodomite.
1. Who arranged for a 150 car train?
2. Who put cars that when combined would result in such toxins?
3. Who made the decision to burn the chemical rather than cart it off?
4. Who decided that 2 people plus 1 trainee could handle a 150 car train?
5. What is the maintenance on those tracks?
6. What were the safety concerns at issue when Biden was negotiating with the rail workers? Were maintenance schedules among the points of contention?
7. Who detonated the spillage?
8. Who modeled what would happen after the crash? Where are the transcripts?
These aren’t regulatory issues.
Buttplug only had two years to fix any perceived problems. Where was he?
Oh, that’s right...family leave, and grooming his kids.
“Hey, the problem isn’t the problem. The problem is that you noticed the problem. You need to stop doing that. You bigot.”
Reprobate mind.Romans 1. Should not be in charge of anything.
Buttegeig is a total failure, his little I lost my train of thought did was purposeful, a mockery of the tragedy.
Buttigieg has no clue what he’s doing so he really hates the job which makes it a complete disaster
Oh boy, these guys are are Goebbels wannabes.
Obama exempted hazardous chemical from the enhanced rail standards. Trump exempted oil. Which spilled in Ohio?
Buttjuice is sure an inspiring leader.
Some dam reporter has to get a set of stones and come right out and demand an answer to the question...
“You agree you did not care for this happening since it happened in an area where the majority of the people voted for Trump and conservative?”
“Are you disappointed that these people have not died yet as result because they voted for Trump?”
Buttigieg someone’s bitch
The preliminary NTSB report explains what happened. What occurred had nothing to do with any particular president in the past. The railroads, with the consent of the federal bureaucracies, have been reducing crew size to where only two crew members were required in the cab of the lead locomotive of this particular 149 car train. The caboose and rear end crew has been eliminated altogether. The larger number of crew members that might have observed a mechanical failure have been replaced with HBD (hot box detector) devices placed strategically along the tracks. Most detectors also detect other mechanical failures.
In the case of the East Palestine derailment, three HBD devices were involved. One 30 miles before the derailment that detected a moderately heated bearing at 38 degrees above ambient temperature well under the 170 F threshold indicating a problem needing attention. The next HBD, 20 miles before the derailment, detected a bearing temperature of 103 degrees above ambient temperature, also below the threshold indicating a problem needing attention. BUT, the HBD located just prior to the derailment reported a bearing temperature of 253 degrees, a critical condition requiring that the train be stopped as quickly as safely possible. The engineer started normal braking, followed by an automatic emergency brake application, most likely caused when the train air line was severed at the start of the derail causing the entire train to go into emergency braking. The result is what we’ve all seen on TV.
The crew appears to have done everything correctly. We’ll have to wait for the final NTSB report for a conclusion, but one could not logically assert the automatic safety devices are a perfect solution. Nor would a larger crew necessarily observe the problem. Perhaps the end result will be better management of hazardous loads that are present on nearly every freight train.
