The percentage of adults in the U.S. who identify as LGBTQ increased slightly year over year, to 7.2% last year, according to a Gallup Poll released Wednesday.
While that’s just a slight increase from 7.1% in 2021, it’s more than double what it was a decade ago, when Gallup found just 3.5% of the U.S. population identified as something other than heterosexual in 2012.
Gallup asked more than 10,000 adults nationwide how they identify in telephone interviews last year.
For the first time, the organization recorded the identities of LGBTQ people who said they are something other than lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender. It found that about 5% of LGBTQ adults identified outside those terms. Most of them — about 0.1% of all U.S. adults — said they are queer, pansexual or asexual.
Bisexuals continue to make up the majority of LGBTQ adults, at 58.2% (or 4.2% of all U.S. adults), Gallup found, while 20.2% identify as gay, 13.4% identify as lesbian, and 8.8% identify as transgender.
Those who said they are straight or heterosexual made up 86% of respondents, while 7% chose not to answer the question.
Continuing previous trends, Generation Z, or those ages 19 to 26, are the most likely to identify as LGBTQ, at 19.7%, compared to 11.2% of millennials, who are 27 to 42; 3.3% of Generation X, who are 43 to 58; 2.7% of Baby boomers, who are 59 to 77; and 1.7% of the Silent Generation, who are 78 or older.
Gallup found that younger generations are much more likely to identify as bisexual than older generations. For example, 66% of LGBTQ people in Generation Z and 62% of LGBTQ millennials identify as bisexual, compared to 48% of Generation X, 26% of baby boomers and 35% of the Silent Generation.

So we are turning the world upside down because fewer than 1 in 10 are all worked up? And of those less than 1 in 10, most of them are probably not that interested in any of this.
And Trans folks are even a smaller part of the population.
And Trans people of color....they are pretty much as common as unicorns.
I believe the pollster are telling the truth about how people responded. But people tend to lie to pollsters in the direction of what they think others want to hear.
So it's significant even though it's axiomatic people lie.
The ten percent figure was based on Kinsey's study of prisoners.

I said to one mother who tried to convince me of such (she has a lesbian daughter), "But what if the Bible is correct? What if parents who tell their kids being gay is okay are actually paving their way to hell?"
I got some angry glares for that one. But the seed was planted.

Of that 7.2 percent, what percent vote Democrat and what percent vote Republican?
Of more significant importance, do they vote at higher rates than the general population?
If they vote at lower rates than the general population, then their voting impact in insignificant. If they vote in larger numbers, then their voting power is magnified.

Until “they” went to hell and got their orders to get as many youth possible,.. Homosexuality was looked at from kids in school, whispered about and no one had the urge to be one.
There were a couple and they moved rather than be where they were not wanted.

Look at today.. It’s destroying lives. It’s being promoted.. Even some churches are okay with it.
Any of you can think it’s okay.. The Bible calls it an abomination.
LGBTQ is a fad among the young, a statement of rebellion. Ten or twenty years from now, nobody will be caught dead admitting to such behavior. A lot like the suburban “wife-swapping” that was such a big thing for a while.
Much like smoking mentholated cigarettes a generation ago. Now almost nobody does that any more.

Exactly. Thanks to leftism, we have instituted bias with favor given to alphabet people and POC and punishment for hetero whites, males, and Christians.
For the alphabet thing, it’s easy for the kid; nobody makes you prove it and some of the labels are impossible to prove anyway; so just claim a favorite letter and get ahead.
Race is a bit harder to fake but it happens apparently (recent articles citing 34% of ‘whites’ claimed some other race on college applications. The articles say ‘lie’ but the current ‘race’ thing is a lie anyway. Not that long ago ‘white’ was north-west Europe and not those swarthy Spaniards nor Poles, Italians, or Czechs — and nobody wanted those Irish.
So again, tick this box and move ahead; tick that box and get discriminated against. Little or nothing to do with reality.
Sometimes I think ‘we’ (the people the left wants to erase) ought to muddy the waters by all playing in. If “not” LGBTwhatever is apparently the type of heterosexual that humps random people, than all the married faithful and other chaste (waiting for marriage, etc.) can identify as ‘B’ but that’s “Biblical” not “Bi.” Let nobody be left to discriminate against, so the left will tear itself apart looking for who to favor and who to hate.
The next big thing. Fads come and go. This is the Hey! Look At Me Attention whore syndrome.
