Top Guns: Americans Purchased These Firearms The Most In 2022
Nation and State ^ | 02/21/2023 | Tyler Durden

Post-Covid, firearm sales at the retail level soared to record levels. According to National Shooting Sports Foundation, the 2022 National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) totaled 16.4 million. While NICS checks aren't related to actual firearms sales, it's a proxy for gun demand.

A new monthly report from GunGenius, which uses data from Gunbroker, reveals the top-selling firearms sold online in 2022:

  1. SIG Sauer P320 semi-automatic pistol
  2. Remington 700 bolt-action rifle
  3. Sig Sauer P365 pistol

Here are the top-selling handguns from last year.

Here are the top-selling rifles.

And top top-selling shotguns.

Also, the top gunmakers last year.

We have covered soaring NICS checks in the last few years but have yet to shine a light on what Americans have been panic-buying. This report offers some insight into buying trends.

I was wondering the same about the Sig 320 and 365. The 365 was the top pistol, but the 320 was number 1 in the overall.

It’s a good value for the money. To pay tons extra for a Benelli or Beretta, etc. just isn’t in many people’s budget. I have several. Plus an old Winchester Model 37 from my grandpa.

2 of the top 10 are longstanding stalwarts for Remington and Remington was also a large ammo manufacturer.....and yet Remington went bankrupt. Just how badly mismanaged was that company? Sheesh.

What in Hell is all those “assault weapon” features? I kinda doubt what you say..I have owned 3 and sold all three, returned two to Ruger to sort out issues.

I am surprised by the sales numbers on the p320 given the LEO lawsuits. I bought a p320 trade in last year, as I ain’t scared of Sig leg. For a modern, non Browning designed pistol, it is ok.

Do you mean bullets or ammunition? A bullet is that thingie that leave the muzzle at a relatively high speed.

To pick a nit, how can the Ruger 10/22 be #5 and the Ruger American be #9 on the overall list, but the American is listed as the #1 rifle while the 10/22 is #2?

I have loaders for 12 and 20 shotgun shells. When I load I use #2 buck.

Hard to find buck in 20ga online.

I am really surprised the Ruger Security 9 is not on that list.

Sure looks like revolvers and “assault rifles” are out of favor. I used to dream of owning a big bore revolver but as my hands become more arthritic I abandoned that dream.

I have a Springfield XD subcompact in 9mm, had it for quite a while. Great little pistol.
I bought a Taurus .38 snubbie last year. Put a laser grip on it. It’s DA only, and I absolutely love the trigger on it.

All boxes checked! But our arsenal was top-notch prior to Covid.

Very glad to see so many others realizing that the problem is not US - it is our corrupt government full of evil people.

I want a Sig Sauer in the worst way, but my hand is just to small for any of their model handguns I’ve been able to hold, so I bought a Browning instead. I’m happy with it.

Beau cashed in some Cabela’s Gift Cards yesterday and stocked us up on 22 Stingers. They were $10 a box, which is ridiculous, but at least they’re in OUR possession and not in Brandon’s fat, greedy fists passing them off to his Russian Proxy War pals in Ukraine. *SPIT*

Cool beans. Looking at those lists, yes, I must confess to contributing to some of those stats...
