'He’s young': Palin calls on DeSantis to sit out 2024 and stay governor
Washington Examiner ^ | February 15, 2023 | Ryan King

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) encouraged Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) to sit out the 2024 presidential battle and continue serving as governor.

Palin further voiced confidence in former President Donald Trump's odds of clinching the party nod and suggested that competitive primaries could be a net positive for the GOP.

"DeSantis doesn’t need to [run]. I envision him as our president someday, but not right now. Everybody I speak with in Florida love[s] him. And he does set the tone for, I'd say, every other governor in the nation," Palin told Newsmax. "I think he's our best governor. And he should stay governor for a bit longer."

There’s no way in hell Biden beat Trump.

The Biden campaign ran circles around Trump's campaign. That is reality. Biden had free reign over the narrative even without the enormous assistance from the press to do the same. Zero attempt by the Trump campaign to counter his ads and messages for months and months on end on many national networks. The race was certainly close enough that alone could have made the difference. Biden fully defined himself and the issues - falsely, but when you are the only message present for many millions of people that's the message that sticks.

His campaign apparatus did not inspire the base enough to open their wallets for him in 2020 for him to run a full media campaign to compete with Biden, and they sat on the sidelines yet again in 2022 leaving his endorsed candidates twisting in the wind against well funded Democrats leaving his candidates begging for McConnell and establishment PACs to come to their rescue, when those PACs should only be supplemental support, if they chose to run ads for any given candidate at all. They almost certainly have enough contacts on file to organize fundraising to where that should not have been a problem at all. Why should we believe he and his campaign apparatus will be any better organized and actually make an attempt to compete when they did squat in 2020 and 2022? Very serious question that must be answered. The track record is not exactly what you would call good in that regard.

“I thought DeSantis is anti-MAGA, a globalist, GOPe etc. I’m getting confused.”

No, those surrounding DeSantis, fundraising on his behalf, contributing to his campaign chest, and urging him to run for Prez as they think he has the best chance against Trump, are RINO, globalist, establishment types (many are Bushbots, with Gov Jeb Bush who lives in FL being behind their anti-Trump efforts, as Jeb hates Trump).

You are claiming to be confused when you really aren’t; it seems you may be one of these types yourself if you act so myopic.

It’s not about Palin, but, she’s correct.

Imagine that Trump runs and wins, then, DeSantis runs in 2028 and wins, and wins again in 2032. 12 years of republican presidencies, then, whoever is DeSantis’ VP wins again.

Democrats should be sidelines for at least 20 years, and hopefully disappear as a party, since all they do is destroy the country when they take over.

“Trump on Election Day 2024 will be older (78) than Joe Biden was on Election Day 2020 (77).
I think that’s more of a “problem” than DeSantis being in his 40s.”

Trump has all his marbles; Biden doesn’t. It’s not the age, it’s the dementia of our faux President Biden who stole the 2020 election while staying in his basement to hide his dementia, and is a mere Commie puppet to those like-minded Commies surrounding him.

You want someone younger for President? How about AOC, Ilhan Omar, Adam Kinzinger, Liz Cheney, and their like. That’s youth; no wisdom, no brains, but they do have youth, don’t they?

"Imagine that Trump runs and wins"

Suddenly he won't have it stolen from him again like in 2020? Why?

I'm just curious why people that say 2020 was fraudulent act like Donald Trump can win in 2024 if that's true. If Trump as president didn't stop the fraud in 2020, why would candidate Trump in 2024? The two states he complained about the most (Georgia and Arizona) either have the exact same governor or now even a Democrat to boot.

Some great points there. While Trump obviously has a legion of adoring fans, their fantasy of him being a Bruce Wayne superhero playing 65-D chess with his own deep state Q operation isn’t exactly the type of image that inspires a need to contribute much of anything themselves.

That’s my position too. Maybe someday, or as a substitute for Trump if Trump for whatever reason can’t make it to the ballot for 2024. DeSantis for the sake of his own future should not squeeze himself into the clown car.

Such crap. John Kennedy was 43 when he became president. Sarah you are either jumping the shark or fishing for an administrative position with Trump.

I am concerned about DeSantis deserting Fla and the state being lost to all of the new leftist liberals that have relocated there. DeSantis is also not ready for the treasonous bureaucracy that permeates the entire government. I do not see how he has time even now to be playing politics.

Sarah Palin quit as governor (and Alaskans still haven’t forgiven her).

Then, after an elaborate multi-state bus campaign she quit her 2012 Presidential campaign (apparently due to a story she had slept with Black basketball star Glen Rice).

Then Sarah backed Trump in 2016, and he rewarded her with no job at all!

When Palin needed to quit the 2022 House race after her special election loss, she stubbornly stayed on the ballot and ensured Republican defeat in Alaska.

Sarah Palin is the last one any sensible person should listen to for political advice!

The time for Desantis is now. He is leading on the current big issues. If he can beat Trump he is in a very strong position to be successful. By 2028, his covid leadership and culture wins will be very old news. If he decided he wants to stay Governor and complete his second term, that’s fine but he will never be in better position to enter the national scene. He has massive high name recognition for a governor. In my travels during every trip people bring him up in conversation when I mentioned Florida as home.

Yes I am confused. If those surrounding DeSantis, fundraising on his behalf, contributing to his campaign chest, and urging him to run for Prez as they think he has the best chance against Trump, are RINO, globalist, establishment types, then it seems to follow that he is also those things. You say he isn’t those things. So then I really don’t understand what your point is. The Only Trump crowd CONTINUALLY makes that claim. In fact it seems to be the ONLY argument you can come up with.

Who are all these RINO, globalist, establishment types are who are allegedly fundraising on his behalf, contributing to his campaign chest, and urging him to run for Prez? You mention Jeb Bush. I did a quick search and don’t see anything about him fundraising, urging Desantis to run or anything like that.

I agree Ron shouldn’t run, but quitter grifter Palin isn’t the best person to deliver that message.

More politicians should be saying it though so I support her in that regard.

I don’t think Trump at 78 is bad at all. He is in great health.

Trumpers eh?

I guess you hated his time in office.

Desantis can run and blow it early, his call.
