Talk is cheap. They’ll increase the dept ceiling with targeted cuts ten years out. (Actually I have higher hopes this time, but I’m a realist)

The “debt service” that comes with the debt is what is so detrimental. Ironically, if we had lived within our means in decades past, government spending could be at current levels without deficits and no debt because so much of the current budget/spending is to fund the debt service.

I thought “tax cuts” were going to take care of the deficits because they would produce more revenue to cover continued spending (if you believe that then I have some beachfront property in Arizona to sell you, and not in Lake Havasu either).

I disagree, I see the greatest threat to this country the same as it was in 1859, the DEMOCRAT PARTY.

But of all the dangers we face, the greatest threat to our future is our national debt.

Wrong, but a good example of misdirection. The greatest threat to our future are those who are allowed to drive our national debt off the cliff. The group is easily identified by its continuing efforts.

“Since when Kevin?”

I’ll believe it only if the GOP majority in the House refuses to raise the debt limit.

These constant increases in the national debt are one of, if not the, primary source of inflation.

Treasury debt is included in the largest measure of the U.S. money supply. If it gets purchased by the Fed, and it usually does, the quantity of dollars increases, devaluing the ones that you hold.

not china. Not fetanyl. not open borders. Spend trillions on Ukraine, and now he says the Debt is our greatest threat. Makes total sense.

There was a chance decades ago for fixing the ship. That is long since passed. The past obligations will destroy the future. Rip gen x, y, z.

Well that’s a bad threat to our future, Kevin, Yes.

But your body, the U.S. Legislature, and the ones that come out of it to rule the Executive Branch are by far the greatest threat to our future.

Regarding national debt, why doesn't McCarthy effectively exercise one person "majority" power like Pelosi did, but this time by publicly pointing out Supreme Court clarification of Congress's constitutionally limited power to tax and spend?

From related threads...

The bottom line...

All MAGA patriots need to wake up their RINO federal and state lawmakers by making the following clear to them.

If they don’t publicly support either a resolution, or a Constitutional Convention, to effectively "secede" ALL the states from the unconstitutionally big federal government by amending the Constitution to repeal the 16th (direct taxes) and 17th (popular voting for federal senators) Amendments (16&17A), doing so before the primary elections in 2024, that YOU will primary them.

If the proposed amendment was limited strictly to repealing 16&17A, relatively little or ideally no discussion would be needed before ratification of the amendment imo.

With 16&17A out of the way, my hope is that Trump 47 becomes the FIRST president of a truly constitutionally limited power federal government.

In the meanwhile, I'm not holding my breath for significant MAGA legislation to appear in the first 100 days of new term for what may still prove to be another RINO-controlled House.

Trump will hopefully do another round of primarying RINOs for 2024 elections.

The debt is a huge problem but it’s not the number one problem. Our biggest problem is we’ve turned our backs on God as a nation. He’s the only one who can save the USA this late but only if we humble ourselves and repent. With the national religion of pride chances are that won’t happen.
