Maybe it’s just me, but I think “seize” would work better in this situation.
But, we are either “pouncing’ or “seizing” on any given day, so I guess it doesn’t make much difference.
Not only them- Biden’s been walking around with a 💩eating grin on his face over this.
Brandon can’t shoot it down. It was probably part of his deal with our enemies.
“Republicans Pounce”
*Drink*
As I posted in another thread, if the thing is floating in a given state’s airspace, would the governor of that state have the authority to send the Air National Guard to shoot it down?
Why would the Chinese need a balloon to spy when they super sophisticated satellites in space that can spy on us ?
We don’t know why they launched this balloon. That has yet to be determined. Maybe the Chinese will tell us at some point.
Love it!
If it went off course, it wasn’t innocent. I don’t think any of the currents it was on, from what I have read, originate in or near China.
It was at 40,000 feet.
Republicans Pounce!!!
I wouldn’t shoot it down till it’s over the Atlantic. Who knows what WMDs it harbors.
*hic*
IT IS BALLOON!
Biden says it would be dangerous to shoot it down because it would leak 3 cubic yards of ... well something that would cause “global warming” to be even worse than the “crisis” we’re already in with only a few years left. I hope I’m joking, but it’s hard to tell these days.
Biden has about a 30 second attention span he has no idea what is going on and his stooge crew has an IQ 50 they are as lost as he is.
In the 1960s I was part of a team which flew instrumentation packages on balloons like that, launching from Holloman AFB near White Sands NM.
Three things:
That thing has arrays of solar panels mounted on the load bar, so it’s obviously meant to stay up a long, long time. Not like your typical high-altitude research flight.
Every balloon we flew was equipped to lower the instrument package by parachute. No significant danger to anyone on the ground. (Usually they landed out in the desert somewhere anyway, but once we did recover our package from a peacock farm near Tularosa.)
When the load was cut free, a ripcord tore the balloon envelope open. It wasn’t allowed to just float off to become a hazard to airplanes when it began to descend naturally.
Conclusion: This isn’t just an errant research balloon as they claim. If it were, they would have brought it down themselves.
